What do you think about dogs in a hair salon?

I was there today and heard this yelping and there was a poodle sitting on its owner's lap. I was gobsmacked. Have you had this experience?

It because people don’t think they can leave there dog alone for an hour 🙄

I wouldn't like it because I don't care one iota about dogs, and would be irritated by having to pretend to be interested in and charmed by it.

Wouldn't bother me at all. I encourage it if anything.

@Sidebeforeself did they check if you’re allergic? I am horribly allergic to cats and (slightly less) dogs and would freak the fuck out if someone put a cat in my lap without asking.

I'd like having the owner's dog around, or the stylist's. I find dogs calming. Not every customer's dog though - would start to seem like a kennel.

No they didn’t. I know it wasn’t right, but i loved it.

I've got 2 dogs but the hairdressers or nail bar is not really the place for dogs. Unless there is a large warning on the door that there is a dog roaming the premises that way anyone afraid of dogs can cancel their appointment and go somewhere else.

You can't put cats in a lap without asking the cat and I've never met a cat who would put up with being plonked on anyone's lap.

I was in a hotel in Amsterdam last week which had 2 cats. They were lovely. I wouldn't mind at all if my hairdresser had her dog with her.

Where we use to live the hairdresser had her dog at the salon. He was in a room which adjoined the salon. The door was kept open and there was a baby gate which stopped him from wandering around. This was a good arrangement for all concerned.

Why is this in style and beauty? Sounds like an AIBU to me....

My hairdresser has a dog in her salon. Spends most of my appointment cuddled up on my lap. Also took mine once but she wasn't keen on the salon dog.

There's an optician near me who has a very cute Boston Terrier as the welcoming committee. I love dogs. But not everyone does.

I'm allergic to dogs to the extent it affects my breathing. I really wish people would make it clear when dogs are going to be present.
