Ive just booked our holiday for beginning of June. I have between now and then to get my body sorted.

I have:
the statutory jelly belly
mummy / chicken arms
cellulite pretty much all over my legs now, not just up top

I have CFS so BIG exercise is out the window. I hate swimming, but will endure the odd session should it be a vital necessity.

Food? I have a pretty much healthy range, but do pick at chocoloate and love my biscuits.

So, I could swim, cut out choc and biscuits. Thats fine...

But here is where I need help. Im a young 45. I like my age group trendy clothes, so I wouldnt mind 3/4 leggings with a smock iykwim, that kinda thing.

But beach wear. what in our Good Lords Kingdom is there for mummies with jelly bellies, chicken arms and cellulite? What should I be wearing to tour the island or sit around the pool, or the beach.

H E L P !!!!!!!!!!

I say get a fake tan done before you go, it'll improve the appearance of even the worst cellulite.
The best exercise to tone your stomach, according to my physio, is this: lie on your back on the floor, tense your pelvic floor and pull in lower abs, lift both legs off the floor and then do a scissor movement with your legs. Hold your pelvic floor and lower abs in all the time, the movement should be controlled. 10 of these twice a day should sort out the jelly belly. I have just started and you can feel it so it must be doing something!
Then try Seafolly swimwear, lovely bikinis and cover-ups here: www.seafolly.com/apparel.asp?group=1
Ignore the perfect models, they do bikinis that suit most shapes. I really think most women look better in a flattering shape bikini or swimsuit in a pretty design than trying to cover up.
And most women on beaches (if you're not in Rio or Sydney anyway) are mummies too!

Mmmm... fake tan, thats a thought. I used to wear a Boots soltan one, but whilst it was actually OK, and did the trick, it was a bit smelly. Maybe I ought to treat myself to a molton brown or something! Oh yeah, like Im the Beckams LOL

I agree about a good fitting bikini, I shall do the rounds in the next couple of weeks.

I will put an exercise plan together too I guess. start with simple crunchies, and work on stomach mucsles.

thanks for tipe BS. x

Arms - Press-ups and triceps dips! horrible but v effective. Don't worry if you can only do 2 or 3 to begin with. You don't need any special equipment either. Just try to do one more each time, and at least four times a week. By June you should have lovely toned arms, especially if you've shed a few pounds as well!

(Triceps dips - sit on edge of sturdy kitchen chair, feet flat on floor in front of you shoulder-width apart, hands facing forwards on seat edge each side of your thighs. Move bum forwards so not resting on chair anymore, lower bum towards floor by bending your arms. Raise bum up again by straightening arms. Killer! - Assume you know press-ups)

Oh yes, can you manage brisk walking? Excellent form of exercise too, and great for toning legs. Would help to shift fat as well. I don't know if that would be too strenuous, but you could do it in blocks of 10 or 15 mins if that helps.. Aim for 30 mins 4 x a week?

Wolfgirl · 05/03/2008 09:03

ah, now then 43today!!! 2 or 3 would be all I could manage, but yes, I will make a start. And spooky enough I actually walked to pick LO's up from nursery last night. Whilst its only a short walk, there is a mother of hill in the way. I have to seriously breathe in hard and push out hard, and Im walking half stooped to get up it. But I have pledged to myself that I shall do from now on, only if not raining though.

And stomach crunchies.... will start on those too.

Grief! Corfu wont know whats hit it, what with me toned abs, and fake tan - a true godess upon their step ho ho ho
