My best advice to you is find out what type of wave or curl category yours is. You can do this by going to a website and work it out from there. The other thing that's very helpful is to go on a Facebook group (according to the type of hair that you are categorised in from numbers one to 4 or something like that). Hair that can be straightened but frizzes up after an hour or a day (and it's terrible if it isn't blow-dried straight) is often in category 2.
There are loads of YouTube tutorials about different ways to dry your hair, according to whether it's wavy or curly, and it's very much a game of trial and error to see what suits you.
The reason I asked if you're wavy is because one of the main symptoms is that it frizzes up and feels uncontrollable generally looks a mess. If you harness your natural movement, it can look really nice.
I've found that I need to put hair products in while my hair is dripping wet and then scrunch it with a very very soft towel or cotton t shirt. If I over/scrunch it, or scrunch it after letting it even remotely dry, it becomes straggly. The curls are larger and bouncier if I begin scrunching when it is sopping wet, which means hang in my head over the bath for a very long time!
I'm still messing about with the products and found CurlSmith cream was really nice but I didn't like the smell. I use Aveda because my hairdresser does, but find the be curly (as recommended above) is a little bit too watery and can make no difference after an hour. There are several projects in that range and it made me I've got the wrong one though.
There's a whole host of stuff to learn about hair and different ways to style it when it's wavy, for example, if you use a particular product it can look great, but can be very crunchy (a bit like going for a swim in the sea, which, incidentally, I bet looks great to start with - until you get home and wash the sea salt out?). Apparently, there's a way to gently scrunch the crunchiness of the gel out when everything is completely dry, and then put a tiny bit of oil over it which makes it hold its movement and yet feel soft. in the end, I have found it is much less time-consuming to look after wavy hair than it is to blow dry wavy hair, straight. Thing really nice about allowing it to sit naturally as well but it does take an awful lot of getting used to, and you will invite a lot of comments from people noticing the change!
