Timberland boots as bridal shoes… fashion faux pas?

We are eloping next month. There’s a fair chance it will rain or be windy, it certainly won’t be warm and there will be a LOT of walking. I don’t mind, I’m just excited and there’s other cosy things about autumn which makes me happy we’ve picked this season.

I am not the most girly person out there and have always hated walking in heels, in fact I daresay I prob can’t walk in heels lol.

Would it be a crime against fashion/something I go on to regret if I just invest in a really nice pair of timberland boots? I’d get them in a nice neutral/possibly pink or beige colour. My dress is more of a cream and quite long so you probably wouldn’t see them anyway in the professional photos. I’m trying to be practical thinking of the time of year and also I’d get lots of use out of them after

What do you think? Xx

Knock yourself out. I got married in February in biker boots.

KirstenBlest · 17/09/2023 21:30

No, get some really uncomfortable horribly overpriced cinderella-style slippers that you can hardly walk in and you'll never wear again.

Wear whatever you like.

Screamingabdabz · 17/09/2023 21:31

I think you do you. Boots per se are fine but you can probably do better than Timberland which are chunky and unattractive even on lumberjacks, let alone a bride in a dress.

misssunshine4040 · 17/09/2023 21:33

You can find something comfortable that will go with your dress .

To answer your question, yes Timberlands would look awful with a wedding dress but it's completely up to you what you choose .if you like that's all that matters

nobodysdaughternow · 17/09/2023 21:33

How dare you wear actual shoes which don't crucify your feet and will get worn again.

Just who do you think you are?

P.S if I got married again, I'd wear a really expensive, beautiful pair of jeans with some equally expensive trainers.

mysparkleismissing · 17/09/2023 21:45

I had pretty shoes 2nd hand very changed into sparkly rocket dogs after photos

LadyBird1973 · 18/09/2023 16:12

In all honesty I wouldn't. I get the logic of buying something that will last and will be comfortable, but I think you could find something better than this for your wedding.

My sil has a gorgeous pair of silver cowboy boots. Okay, they're not for everyday, but your wedding deserves special. I'm not saying get cowboy boots but you could get dressy boots which are comfortable and you could wear again.

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 18/09/2023 16:15

I think it depends on the style of dress and colour of the boots. It might look daft or it might look really cool. Can’t tell without pictures.

TropicalTrama · 18/09/2023 16:19

I can’t see how they would look decent with a dress because they just look like builders boots to me. Maybe it’s have to see it in person though? I’ve seen doc martens or converse look good, when you’re going for that sort of alternative look, if that makes sense.

bettynutkins · 18/09/2023 16:22

My mum turned a pair of converse type shoes into replicas of the bridal trainers in father of the bride. I adored them. And was super comfy all day.

Wear whatever you like.

BubziOwl · 18/09/2023 16:29

The choice isn't big chunky boots or expensive sparkly stilettos...

I had some off white flat type things from next. They weren't particularly interesting but you couldn't see much of them under the dress, and they were comfortable. About £20.

But you do you, it's your wedding!
