37 forehead worries

Hi

i keep having discussions about my beauty regime with my partner as he doesn’t think there’s any need to keep using the regime I do, I cleanse tone moisturise nothing out the ordinary but he sees it as costly. I feel my forehead is the main part where I see the benefit but he says it’s just the same as anyone else my age, I don’t have much confidence but do think my skin is quite good for my age. I have two faintish lines but not much more. Apologies for the bad photos but tried my best!

@MariePaperRoses hahaha definitely not! It’s my money and we earn pretty equally but it’s definitely my funds that don’t affect him or my daughter at all but I guess he sees it as a waste but then I could say the same for his gaming or whatever but yes thank you all for the comments

My dh wouldn't have the first clue what I put on my face .

LastHives · 18/09/2023 09:54

It's got sod all to do with him. Why are you even thinking about this?

VeridicalVagabond · 18/09/2023 09:56

Your skin looks fab, I'm 32 and I wish my forehead was so smooth, I'm a chronic eyebrow raiser apparently 😂

Unless you are going hungry to be able to afford this skincare I think your partner needs to butt out.

Downandoutmummy · 18/09/2023 10:41

@LastHives like I say I don’t have much confidence and don’t really know if I should carry on bothering as if it looks the same as others my age etc then what’s the point! That’s all I really wanted to see but I’ve had some really positive comments so I’m going to stick to what I’m doing!

I'm 36 and have way more lines. I do tend to have a face of disdain 90% of the time and have created a little rainbow of hate.

I'd say keep at it as it's doing a great job!

Pressthespacebar · 18/09/2023 13:48

I think it can be down to genetics, I’m the same age as op and don’t have any lines, people have asked if I’ve had Botox! But the women in
my family tend not to get wrinkles, we just sort of sag eventually and look a bit miserable 😂 it’s started happening to me, I’ve got nose to mouth lines and bags from lack of sleep over the years, but no line don the forehead for around the eyes.

I have greasy skin which does help, plus a bit of excess weight which I think helps 😆 making myself sound gorgeous aren’t I!

I wash my face twice a day with a muslin cloth and face wash, use spf 50 every day and a night cream at night.

smartiesneberhadtheanswer · 18/09/2023 14:38

It's quite worrying that he thinks he's entitled to an opinion and quite worrying that you listen to it.

Is he weirdly controlling in other ways? Do you have trouble telling ppl to keep in their lane?

Your skin is great, probably genetics but if you like your skincare, that's your business

Downandoutmummy · 18/09/2023 17:53

@smartiesneberhadtheanswer no not at all, I’ve spoken to him about it and he said he thought he was complimenting me and I took it wrong, saying I didn’t need it etc but no I’m not going to stop and am really pleased!

Tell him to mind his own. Is he buying your skincare products?

I am 71. The only care my skin gets is a wash with water every day and shampoo when I wash my hair about twice a week. I spend a lot of time outdoors and use factor 50 sunscreen and a hat (haven't deliberately sunbathed since I was a teenager). I don't wear make-up. Apart from the freckly age- spots I don't think my forehead skin's too bad... I've always had very greasy skin, however. I don't know if that makes a difference?
I'd say stop worrying about your forehead too!

Your greasy skin will have helped. One of my friends in her 50s has similar skin type and looks very youthful too.

43ontherocksporfavor · 18/09/2023 19:11

Yes my sister in law always cursed her oily skin in her youth as it caused spots etc But now at 55 she has very few lines despite living in Australia!

I just had a look at Elemis, and yikes, it is expensive! Personally I don't spend that amount.

Saying that, if you can afford it and it doesn't affect the household budget, then go for it.

That made me google it Grin

Blimey! Cheaper than Botox but how long does it last?

Downandoutmummy · 18/09/2023 21:02

@BeMoreBarbie I definitely don’t buy full price! They have a lot of offers on qvc and I get from Vinted too but only twice a year it’s about 120 over the year if that

OP posts:
TracyBeakerSoYeah · 18/09/2023 21:11

If you get Elemis from QVC during their blockbuster/TSV events it works out quite reasonable.
I also look for special offers on the LookFantastic & Elemis websites too.

Last November I got all the stuff in the photo for £60. Both the moisturiser & the cleansing balm last me around 6 months.

Personally Elemis suits my skin & I dread to think how much money I've wasted on cheaper products that have been just rubbish - the only really cheap product my face likes is Boots Sensitive Skin Cleansing wipes (£1) which I use sometimes if I'm too tired or lazy.

At the end of the day if it works for you & you can afford it then use it.

Thanks @TracyBeakerSoYeah I'm actually going to take a look as realistically that's a bargain if you were to compare to no 7, for example which is what I use. I usually get for birthdays and Christmas and it lasts me until the next.

And thanks @Downandoutmummy for the recommendation. Again, your forehead looks fantastic!

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 20/09/2023 15:16

@BeMoreBarbie

Around the beginning of November QVC do their big Elemis deal.
Also in April & July during the rest of the year.
That's when I usually get mine.
