Attending my works Xmas do in December. I haven't been on a 'club' night in years. I work with a very young and trendy crowd but I've just turned 60. I'm 5ft 8 with good boobs and long legs. Don't want to look too 'up front', but dont want to look dowdy either. Needing help!

Is it definitely a clubbing night?

How much do you want to spend? (And do you want to buy new / pre-owned or hire?)

NatashaDancing · 16/09/2023 21:08

Yes, I think a works Christmas do is unlikely to be a clubbing night.

But we need budget, size and preferences.

MetaDaughter · 17/09/2023 00:27

Depends …

All the money …

Money … Both or one part of these. If casual-ish then just the trousers with a loose t shirt.

Possible?

Alternatively just wear something sober, with these boots.

YY to clubbing. Organisers are young and v club-oriented 🙄
Budget not v large - max £150ish.
Dress size 16 top / 14 bottom.

Either new or pre owned is fine

Ah, well in that case Zara would be perfect. They don’t have Christmas season stock in yet but, if you don’t already, I’d haunt the website and work out which shapes and fabrics you’re drawn to. Their Limited Edition clothes are often outstanding, and keep-able. But if it’s only for a club you could spend much less on any of their party dresses - (though that runs the slight risk of arriving in the same frock as someone else).

I have to say "something suitable for clubbing for the Christmas work do" is the one "what to wear" which has stumped me.

I'm not sure I even know what "clubbing" is. I don't think I've ever been clubbing (apart from once as part of someone's leaving do I might have been in a club. It was awful).

Office Christmas dos are always awful. The best you can hope for is the thing the least objectionable to most people. In the unlikely event of mine this year involving clubbing I'd either pass or wear whatever I'd wear to go to a pub or a restaurant.

MetaDaughter · 17/09/2023 19:29

I would definitely decline such an invitation …

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/09/2023 19:33

What sort of club?

Could you do something like a sequin mini skirt with opaque tights, heeled boots and a black top?

CinnamonJellyBeans · 17/09/2023 20:00

Jumpsuit? I think a fitted one would look fantastic on your figure. I'm thinking Karen Millen, lots of nice ones at the moment.
