Where to start with a skincare routine?

So at the tender age of 54...i have concluded that I need a skincare routine but have no clue where to start.

Currently, I take any eye make up off with simple eye make up remover, wash my face with simple face wash (or shower gel if in the shower - I know, I know!) and I moisturise with E45 lotion. My skin is definitely maturing but I would still say combination -so not dry if I moisturise. The skin on my neck/decolletage is starting to look a bit crepey. I have some sensitivity and redness. I wear a roaslique to cover that up and it's Factor 50.

I am quite busy most of the time so realistically I can't commit to loads of time on skincare (when I see those videos with people using what seems like 100's of products 😮) ...so what would your top products/paired down routine be that makes a difference please? Any videos/tutorials to recommend?

I don't mind spending a bit on stuff that works...although I am not a fan of really heavily scented/perfumed products.

Thank you

I’d go for something woth minimal chemicals. Weleda do a gorgeous Evening Primrose range for ‘mature’ skin - lovely face and eye cream, and their almond cream cleanser is fantastic. And their almond oil is awesome for makeup removal.
Or Liz Earle - the cream cleansers are fab as are the moisturiser.

I’d say a basic routine would be something like:

AM
Cleanse
Vitamin C serum
Day moisturiser
Sunscreen

PM
Cleanse (double cleanse if wearing a lot of make up and/or sunscreen)
Some kind of retinol/anti-aging serum
Night moisturiser

It can get a lot more complicated than that if you like though - eye creams, essences, exfoliating acids, etc.
