New watch - which brands to look at?

I need to replace my ancient watch which is no longer repairable. I'm looking for a non-digital watch, quartz or battery. It must have an easy to read face. I like minimalist styling and prefer leather rather than metal straps.
My budget is £200-£350. Which brands should I look at in this price range? My old watch brand is no longer available.

Seiko are always worth a look.

What do you think of this one: Option 1

Tissot. Swiss and plain. Very good value in my view. Fossil “Jacqueline” (cheaper but good clear faces). Bulova and Rotary. Both have excellent watches. I tend to avoid fashion branded watches in favour of traditional watch makers. John Lewis have quite a lot to choose from. Accurist and Citizen which you can buy at Goldsmiths are very decent too. Some do “copy” trends from much more expensive brands so if you like a certain style (square face, rectangular face, round coloured face like Rolex, bracelet, Tank type with leather strap) you will find it.

I'm a big fan of citizen eco drive watches. They've got a big range of styles.

Also, there's nothing wrong with Seconda watches. They have a massive range of styles and they're all quartz. You can even save enough to splash out on a super luxurious watch band.

I bought this Skagen about six years ago, I love it. Probably a bit more expensive now but was just over a hundred back then.

I second sekonda. I'm currently wearing a burgundy and gold one.

I like the styling but not the colour. Hadn't thought about Swatch - I'll have a good look.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions - will look at all those brands. The Skagen Signatur Lille is currently my favourite.

I like Fossil. A bit cheaper than your budget, but they have really nice quality, classic styles that won’t date. And it’s very easy to buy leather straps that will work with them if you don’t like their current colours.

KirstenBlest · 15/09/2023 14:51

I used to wear a Swatch. Had several one after the other until I realised that they just don't seem to last more than about 13 months.

LookItsMeAgain · 15/09/2023 16:04

I've had a Swatch watch that has lasted for years. I need to get a new strap for it but it's working really well.

KirstenBlest · 15/09/2023 16:58

Maybe I was unlucky, but I had 3 and they all died when less than a year and a half old.

Lagershandy · 15/09/2023 17:05

I have had a Citizen watch for over 30 years, still going strong and looks like new. It's a two tone stainless steel type.

Love my Tissot, have worn it every day for the last 10 years or so. Think it was about £400. Looks good with everything.

I would recommend Skagen, those with the stainless steel straps. Very comfortable and light to wear, easy to read.

I have a Citizen eco-drive which I've used for 10 years, never had to change the battery or get it serviced, can shower with it etc. Definitely recommend!

Option 3

The first one is great, and I might treat myself, but I don't like the other two.
