What is everyone wearing on their bottom half in the winter? I normally just stick on some jeans and a jumper but would like to mix it up this year, thanks 😊

I’ve got the Saint and Sofia runway pants in various colours, they are very versatile.

Those look lovely. What is the fit like? I'm 5"4' size 12/14 with a tummy. 🥺

PuppyMcPupFace · 16/09/2023 08:36

@UnctuousUnicorns I have three pairs. They're very fine cord. Sizes vary a lot between colours 🤷‍♀️

Chickoletta · 16/09/2023 10:19

Saint and Sofia’s fit is quite generous. They do different lengths too - I’m 5’3” and have a pair of trousers in short length. Their prices have gone crazy though. Not sure how they can justify £80+ for a pair of black trousers.

summergreens · 16/09/2023 10:34

Dungarees still with a fitted jumper underneath for practical going to the loo . Mid calf pinafore dresses with the jumper over the top.

Basically if it hasn't got usable pockets I'm not playing.

I’m living in these at the moment, but mainly because I’m pregnant and they are the softest comfiest thing ever.

I have been browsing at M&S and found this: https://www.marksandspencer.com/cord-high-waisted-leggings/p/clp60604730?intid=mobile_app_pdp_share

Cheeky placemats for a browse this afternoon

I like midi/maxi skirts with a jumper and boots. Lots of silky slip skirts in the shops at the mo and also seen some great denim midi skirts. Also love a mini with a chunky jumper.

I wish I could pull off jumper and skirt looks. I always look massive.

I tend to wear either faux leather leggings if going into work, these ponte leggings if working from home. They’re super comfy. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amazon-Aware-Womens-Ponte-Knit/dp/B098KDXT2H

lindyloo57 · 16/09/2023 17:46

I have a few skirts like that and hardly wear them, I going to try to remember to wear them this winter, how to keep warm is the thing, I normally wear thermals under jeans when its really cold, I wonder it skirts are warm enough.

ChishiyaBat · 16/09/2023 20:08

I wear knee length or longer skirts, with black tights and a pair of my many new rock boots.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 16/09/2023 20:37

There are a lot of midi and maxi denim skirts out now. I also like the midi slip skirts with trainers and loafers, which are still in fashion. Both look good with jumpers

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 16/09/2023 21:26

I have peg leg cords from Cos, and Spanx faux leather leggings, but I do love jeans and jumper!

I’m enjoying loose jeans at the moment (Levi’s 90s 501s and “baggy dad”) and really looking forward to wearing them with knits.

IsLarryFromSomething · 16/09/2023 22:06

Lands end normally has some nice cords.

I often wear a big jumper with a midi skirt as in the pictures above.

stayathomer · 17/09/2023 00:09

M and s used to do fab bootcut cords in the day but haven’t found them in years! pizzaHeart Same here, a nice skirt but think it would have to be kept for the days I don’t leave the house and the fire is on!
Op I live in jeggings and my trusty brown boots!

TheMadGardener · 17/09/2023 01:25

I have cord trousers in a range of different colours - jeans style but I can get away with them for work where I can't wear actual jeans. They keep me going all winter. Let's see, I now have them in navy, royal blue, teal, black, sage green, chocolate...

Nannyfannybanny · 17/09/2023 09:18

Depends on the weather, haven't even got autumn weather yet. My life is gardening or walking dogs, skirts aren't practical for woods, forests or the beach. Plus they are border collies, so there will be running and football. M &S jeggins in most colours, jumpers are always a problem. I am allergic to all animal wool, I usually check labels. I bought a lovely chunky cardigan last year, wore it over clothes (obviously,) nearly went mad, itching, sore,it had 3% wool,it went to the charity shop.

Methven · 17/09/2023 10:06

I refresh the colour of my M&S cord leggings with Dylon machine dye. Also, they are out of stock of black or navy ones late on the season, I buy them in whichever colour and machine dye them.

ChewbaccasMrs · 17/09/2023 11:20

I usually wear Long skirts, maxi length mainly, but I am going to get some knee length one's as well for this winter or I wear warmer dresses,so long sleeves and thicker material.

I pair mine with footless thick tights, boot socks and long boots.

I'm on the look out for new boots at the moment but not having much luck.

Don't know if it's your kind of thing OP but cords making a big comeback for autumn and winter this year, there's some lovely cord trousers and cord dresses on the high street at the moment.

highlandcoo · 17/09/2023 12:09

@TheMadGardener can I ask where you buy your cords?

NeunundneunzigHorseBallonz · 17/09/2023 13:37

I had the best knitted skirt that was stolen off the line. It was an ankle-length (on me, probs midi on non-garden gnomes), soft brown wrap skirt that was edged in blanket stitch and had one button inside, wrapping across my tummy and another wrapping across the other side. It was like wearing a beautiful blanket and it looked great with all of my boots, jumpers, etc. Bitter that it’s gone. I’m not usually one to care, but that upset me.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 17/09/2023 13:44

Tube skirts, tights and boots, or bias cut skirts and boots.

Will sometimes wear short skirts,a jumper, thick tights and boots, too (have decent-ish legs).

Basically, with a skirt, tights and boots 😂

HelterSkelter224 · 17/09/2023 14:02

I love a pair of leather jeans for winter

stripeymonster · 17/09/2023 14:24

Wish M & S did cord bootleg jeggings. That would be comfy and flattering.

TulipVictory · 18/09/2023 12:43

What's everyone's take on jogging bottoms? I was just looking at the M&S ones, they look so comfy but not sure whether they are just a lounge at home and not wear in public thing?

A-line just above the knee skirts in cord or denim or wool, opaque tights and boots. For all those contemplating a voluminous midi or long skirt, bear in mind the wind. Every year I attempt it and find unfurling it from my legs or being nearly blown into the Thames because my skirt has caught a favourable headwind a pain in the arse.

BMrs · 18/09/2023 13:10

dontgobaconmyheart · 15/09/2023 10:57

I'm quite into tailored trousers at the moment or something wide leg but jeans are always a go to, or a longer length skirt. I layer jumpers over dresses quite a bit in the winter and add in tights, chunky boots etc. If the jumper is longer in length than is ideal I just put a belt on with the dress and tuck the jumper up into that to get a more cropped appearance and give it some shape.

I like this idea. Never thought of doing that and have some lovely length dresses that would look great with boots I could reuse in winter
