Clark’s - when did it get so expensive ?

Popped into Clark’s yesterday to have a quick look at some Chelsea boots. No wonder the shop was empty, the simple pair I looked at was £120 !!!
I like Clark’s as I think they last well, but I don’t like them that much, I’ll be going elsewhere.

I believe all the brands make cheaper stuff for the outlets.

There's a line of Clark's with a very slightly different name that I've seen at Deichman's.

I don't know why brands are willing to devalue themselves that way. If someone doesn't know about the way outlets operate they'll just get the idea that Clark's are bad shoes.

We always use Clarks for DC...was just over £200 in August for 4 pairs of school shoes! Then my youngest had a growth spurt so we've just spent another £52 last week! We've tried cheaper brands but they just don't last

Dr Martins school shoes have been a revelation and I won't be buying Clarks anymore. They still look new after 2 terms and they cost 60 in the sale. We would be looking for replacements now if Clarks or startrite.

I'd be more than willing to pay full price if the quality hadn't gone down so drastically in the last few years. Even DH moans that his Clarks boots barely last him a year now and the quality of mens stuff is generally better than women's!

I have some old Clarks boots that have long outlived the ones I've bought recently.
Agree that looking for good quality second hand on Vinted is probably the best option.

Always expensive - I used to just wait for the sales or buy on Vinted nowadays.

I don't think that is a surprising price, Clarks has never been a cheap shop and we have had a period of high inflation.

Stuff costs money. The issue is wages have not kept up.

I have been boycotting clarks for afew years now after a run in with a rude shop assistant 🤣
