I bought these trousers, looking for shoe recommendations

Trousers in question are here: https://www.fatface.com/women/clothing/trousers/blake-wide-leg-drape-trouser/980366.html?dwvar980366_color=KHAKIGREEN#q=trousers&lang=en_GB&start=3

I really love how they look on me and thinking a white slip-on or lace up trainer like the model is wearing is my first go-to shoe. What would you suggest for a slightly smarter work look? I don't wear heels so they aren't an option. I'm not quite sure if the type of shoes I'm thinking of go with this draped, wide-leg look. Should I go for a pointy toe? Colour-wise, black and white would work with this brown/khaki colour, but what else? In case it's relevant, I'm 40 and 5'1.

Something like one of these? I broswed Next for examples.

How kind lol. I quickly browsed for a few examples of wide-fit shoes that would be work-appropriate, not much thought went into it. I find some of the very chunky shoes quite ugly too, so each to their own.

Edited

The trousers are hideous too to be fair, "lol"

Lol indeed

@Palindrone . I don't like them at all either but I will wear tapered chinos.
Wide legs do nothing for me.

I kind of get that they're a bit Annie Hall, but unless the fabric is drapey as they say it is I can't see them working. The styling isn't great.

How nasty.

Why not post your recent purchases so we can critique your choice.

Something tells me you won't.

As I suspected, you won't share what you wear out of cowardice, Palindrome.

Easy to dish it out but you clearly can't take it.

MerryChristmasToYou · 12/09/2023 16:21

I don't think the trousers are hideous but I'd look hideous in them. Our shapes aren't compatible.

You didn't ask me to share what I wear, you asked me to post my recent purchases.

I gave my opinion that the shoes were ugly. I held back on what I thought about the trousers initially as that wasn't what the OP asked but apparently, I'm not 'kind' for answering a question honestly. 'Be kind' and 'lol' make my teeth itch, so forgive my 'nasty' retort.

If I genuinely wanted Style & Beauty advice I'd start my own thread. No matter what style I linked to on this thread it would be met with derision. I'm not playing into your hands. Bye.
