Any tips for styling DD (2.5) wavy hair?

My daughter has lovely wavy hair, but it is a bit wild. Even though we've just had it cut, it looks really messy all the time. At the back she has some nice curls, but the front seems to curl upwards and I just don't know how to style it!

my dd is the same age and similar type hair. We tend to embrace the Helena bonham carter style wildness 🤣. Or I find bunches work best to keep her hair up for nursery or dp tends to do a high pony tail. We clip back the front at home otherwise it just gets sticky and dirty really quickly.

It's gorgeous. I wouldn't change a thing about that hair.

I will give bunches a go! It doesn't seem to look right in a pony as she has a lot of shorter, very wavy bits at the front. I agree @WhereAreWeNow it is gorgeous.

Yep bunches are the way to go when you want it to be tidy, but she's 2.5, how 'styled' does she needs to be?

just run your fingers through it when it's drying to separate the curl out a bit.

id be far more worried about her poor little blue face!

@NeedTheSeaside not styled, but pre school have said it needs to be tidy and off her face, so just wanted some tips!

@Themaidshandstale

then why didn't you ask/say that in your OP. You said styled.

anyway, as I said, bunches. Or frankly just telling them to bog off! She's a toddler with toddler hair.

plaits works well too, but plaits tight enough to keep it 'tidy' are not good for her fragile toddler hair.

DD's hair is very similar. For now i do bunches for nursery, down and with a clip in the side on weekends just to keep it off her face, or the top section pulled into a ponytail.

I only have very loose waves myself, so i plan on investigating curly girl techniques for when she is a bit older so she can bring out the best of her curls

Couple of snap clips each side will keep any flyaway bits neat - unless she’s like my DD2 and clips just slide out of her hair…

MaggieFS · 09/09/2023 21:44

My dd has the same. She always removes clips, so for nursery we just scrape it into an ugly high pony tail.

It's another year before school and I'm hoping by then we'll have more to play with!

DD is just under 3 and has ringlets, it falls over her face. She refuses to use grips, bobbles or hair bands and rips them from her hair with the rage that only a small child can muster.
What I do is when she’s out the bath and her hair is drying I brush/smush a bit of a parting in so that it dries with the curls out of her face, I spray some detangler in and that helps hold it.
