Not a blazer, or a cardigan or a hoody... but what?

What do you wear as an easily removable layer over a tank top? I don't much like jumpers although I do wear them on days when it's likely cold enough to put it on early doors and leave it on all day. In between days it annoys me to take it off over my head (I have challenging hair!) I like tank tops and thin silky t shirts as jersey can chunk me up a bit! I also hate, hate, hate being too hot.

Blazers are too smart for my day to day (although I do like the look, it's not for me or my lifestyle/work). Cardigans feel not right either (big boobs) although maybe a slightly fitted one, partly done up might be ok. I'm not a fan of zip up hoodies as I find the zip bulges weirdly in loose material around the mid section.

Am I looking for a unicorn? I'm
44, about 5'4 and a sturdy 12 - not fat, or wobbly, but absolutely not slender in any way - with long curly hair that is tied up about half the time. I nearly always wear trainers or sliders, sometimes DM boots, never heels due to injury. Trousers are like cropped chino shape or wide leg.

Anyone have similar feelings about blazer/cardi/hoodies and found an answer? Should I just get a nice coat and take it off indoors, be prepared to shiver sometimes until jumper season's here?

I've had on my list of things to make a potters jacket like this one.

Love that jacket.

I have a jersey blazer which i find a good throw-on option. It’s got 3/4 sleeves and it’s burgundy and made of a textured jersey so it doesn’t look like a suit jacket. It was from new look years ago. Something similar to this

Totaly · 10/09/2023 12:37

Jules denim jackets have a jersey stretch material and are not stiff like regular denim - they feel soft like hoodies

A wrap, pashmina or a large scarf.I keep one rolled up in my handbag.

I have a huge collection of shawls, wraps, scarves and the like - they are also my "go" extra layer in all seasons. As for slipping off (which someone mentioned) I have a collection of scarf rings and shawl clips - there's a huge selection of lovely but practical accessories.

I just bought this and I love it, it's a nice heavy weight so hangs well

I wear a lot of coloured denim jackets, leather jackets, shackets and sweatshirts.

I have a couple of jersey blazers so more relaxed if you like, plus if not black or blue they look more casual. I like this one https://www.whistles.com/product/slim-jersey-jacket-35201.html#cgid=Jersey_Jackets_Clothing_WW&is=false&sz=60&start=0&isSecondPage=false&pid=slim-jersey-jacket-35201&pos=5

My go to to the moment ( when it’s not boiling hot) are two bomber type jackets one is Pull and Bear similar to this. https://www.tkmaxx.com/uk/en/women/clothing/jackets+coats/jackets/black+lilac-reversible-bomber-jacket/p/35483248?utm_source=Google&utm_medium=OrganicShopping&utm_campaign=GoogleShopping&utm_term=3548324800199&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIk4Gil6-ggQMVhzAGAB12Wg4-EAQYByABEgIguvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

and one (don’t judge me 😂) from qvc Ruth langsford similar to this one I get quite a few people asking me about it ! https://www.qvcuk.com/Ruth-Langsford-Printed-Side-Stripe-Bomber-Jacket.product.197834.html?sc=SRCH

love this one but too £££ for me https://www.wraplondon.co.uk/fashion-ZN21-SMWJKST/colour-b-dark-slate/jackets-coats/quilted-print-cotton-jacket.htm?Media=CDDBG063&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIk4Gil6-ggQMVhzAGAB12Wg4-EAQYCCABEgLmUPD_BwE

caramond · 10/09/2023 17:42

I also wear a lot of shirts, either open or partly buttoned. I also have a couple of linen jackets like this one (I know it's out of stock but have found mine on eBay).

M&S have a cardigan that sits like a blazer that sounds like it would work for you. I'll go find a link.
