Buying clothes after bypass surgery

Anyone any experience of this? I am having gastric bypass soon to reverse my diabetes. I don't have a target weight as my focus is getting the diabetes sorted rather than weight loss specifically but obviously am anticipating considerable loss for several months afterwards. Just wondered how others have handled buying clothes during this period? Did you just buy cheap stuff until your weight stabilised? The cost of having to buy a whole new wardrobe multiple times is a bit daunting with the CoL on. Would be grateful to hear how others have handled this

I haven't had weight loss surgery but have lost three stone since April. My advice is that actually clothes do last quite a long time , I'm still wearing nice clothes I wore in April, they're just looser! There are a couple of things that are simply too big now. I've also just adjusted the button on a couple of skirts to make them smaller.
I have bought new clothes and I've tended to go for a items that can adjust well so for example ordered a skirt with an elastic waist in a size smaller because it will perhaps be a bit snug at first but will fit for longer. I guess it depends on how quick the weight loss is, but from my experience, you have a good three months when you can still wear your normal clothes.

Vinted is your best friend, sell your old stuff, buy new stuff that fits. I had WLS last feb and I’ve made a pretty penny selling my old things, and I buy a lot too now. I am beyond my goal and it’s the best thing I ever did.

I lost 12 stone in total after bypass and the first 6 stone was in the first 6 months, so you can imagine I was going through clothes at a fast rate of knots!

I basically cycled everything through my local charity shops - I was lucky enough to live in a city with a good number. I'd rock up one Saturday with my bag of donations, then buy 4 or 5 new items and take them home. Back again next Saturday for another go 😂I was effectively paying to rent the clothes for a month or so!

I also bought a lot of clothes via Everything5pounds and donated those as well. (A lot of their stuff is surprisingly long-lasting - I've still got dresses I bought from there years ago, while stuff I paid 10 times as much for hasn't survived half as many trips through the washer.)

Good luck with your surgery!
