Thinking of getting LVL lash lift

I'm a sucker for a bargain, a local salon has an offer on LVL for September and as I'm going on a short break soon I think I'll treat myself. I have never got on with a lash tint as it just does not last for me no matter what I do (and no matter how great it looks on day 1) so am hoping that the 'lift' part of the treatment will wow me.

Is there anything I need to know about it? Any little hints or tips to keep the effect as long as possible?

I have very straight, short lashes that grow straight down, so the immediate LVL results are very dramatic for me. Ive had it about 5 times in the last two years - I'd do it for a special occasion like a wedding or holiday, but the last wedding I went to I just couldn't be bothered and slapped on more mascara instead. It's probably good holiday where you'll be swimming etc.

The first time I had it done I was amazed, literally felt like I'd had a facelift.

One time my lashes did droop overnight, I managed to flick them back up again but they didn't look as good as other times. I think that was just bad luck or how I slept or something.

If you wear contacts you'll have to skip them for a day and wear your glasses. The treatment can sting a bit if you have sensitive eyes like me, but nothing unbearable.

You need to keep them dry for at least 24 hours, so no bathing/ sweating/ steamy environments. I tend to get mine done at an early appointment where I know I can have a slight lie-in the next day and just shower straight away. My eyes get crusty especially when I'm asleep, so I'm always desperate to wash my face by the time I wake up. They should give you a spoolie so you can brush them out regularly. At my last appointment she also gave me some serum.

The worst bit is when it starts to grow out so you have some super curly and some new straight lashes, but a bit of mascara usually gets them looking ok. For me, the best result doesn't last long enough for it to be a regular treatment, so I keep it for occasions only.

Don't get them wet for 24hrs. Stay away from steam for 48hrs I was told, though I've heard that shouldn't be true.

Also using a non oil based mascara, and no oil products on the lashes is meant to prolong the effect.

Oh yes oil. I use an oil cleanser and oily moisturiser, my skin is so dry that I can't bear not to. It didn't ruin my LVL at all, but maybe the effects would last longer if I avoided them!

Thanks for the feedback. I'm not going in with huge expectations to be honest as I said in my OP the effects of lash tint only ever last a few days at most for me.

I can't imagine not wearing mascara at all on a night out! but either way I'll be wearing eyeshadow and other makeup. I usually use a balm cleanser, will that be ok to use on my eyes?

Don’t get your hopes up, I’ve had it done a couple of times at different places and found it underwhelming

I love it. I find it makes a big difference to my short lashes that point down! The real key is a good therapist. I have one now who does a great job but have rubbish ones in the past.

theemmadilemma · 04/09/2023 15:13

I've been having mine done for about a year, tends to last me 4-5 weeks.

I just decided to give it a shot myself and used a kit, so I'll see how long these last but it wasn't too difficult and they came out really well for a fraction of the cost.

I've loved having them done since I first had it, makes such a difference.

Does it do more than mascara & eyelash curlers do? Beyond the fact that you don't have to manually curl them every day...

AprilDecember · 04/09/2023 15:34

My lashes are stubbornly short, straight and floor-pointing so eyelash curlers do nothing, when I use them it lasts about 5 seconds. Similarly, no mascara really does a good job on its own, my lashes are still short and straight. LVL was much better in my case because it lasts and really opened up my eyes. However, if you already have nice long, curly lashes, it might not have as much of an effect.

Greyfoot · 04/09/2023 15:42

I have a tint and the "perm" at the same time and the curl lasts much longer than the colour.

They do make a difference, whether it's £40 worth (for the lift and tint) I'm not so sure.

Try a couple of weeks of UK Lash before you have the LvL. I’ve been having LvL for years, every 8-10 weeks and I do really like it. But my lash tech told me to try UK Lash and honestly? Wow! Such a difference, my eyelashes are literally twice as long, which makes the LvL look so much better. And no, I do not work for them, but it is honestly the most effective product I’ve ever bought.

LifeInAHamsterWheel · 05/09/2023 09:45

Thanks, as it's a bargain I'm going to just go ahead and do it. But I won't get my hopes up too much!

I will look at UK Lash now too, thanks.
