Hoping some of you can help, I struggle I feel anyway, to find outerwear because of since when I gained weight, and although I find quite alot in my size I feel put off buying it because then I feel like I am accepting it, which I'm not but I have a long way to go to sorting it out.

So although I see some quite nice mixes of outerwear when i look online for example, some of the styles and colours, i would not wear, stick in my ways, so I end up drawing towards black, but then I think what is the point of having 3/4 different ones but all in black.

I have a Yours, thin pack a mac type jacket to throw on for the moment, I've had it a while, to me the quality is not great and it's not supposed to keep you warm.

So what I am seeing when I look around are thin jackets or furry/puffer styles. I do have a goose down one for winter and that is all I have, again I will need to look at getting something in addition to that, but that's another thing on the list.

For now it's something to throw on day to day as it's getting colder as we head towards September.

I am a size 22 pretty much in outerwear it's the bust area that is the problem. So some companies do a 22-24 which helps but then has looked huge in parts. I then think that's also not good because I feel with certain items I have, what looked big I feel like I've grown in to 🤦‍♀️

Anyway any help or suggestions will be greatly received. Thankyou.

Oversize Bomber jackets are the thing now. You can get nice ones fairly cheaply on sites such as boo hoo, PLT etc and they do curve ranges, as do asos, new look etc. you can get them in various heaviness-I've just got a quilted one from zara which will be warm enough for winter. But you can get thinner ones too.

Fwiw re sizing. I have put on loads of weight this year and felt like you: buying stuff in my current size is accepting it so o laid off for a bit. But tbh I've found it's made me feel better to have clothes that fit and make me look better as I currently am, trying to fit in to my old smaller stuff and looking awful was becoming demoralising!

i think this M&S car coat is a great buy. Does everything a trench does, but isn’t double-breasted or belted (which make me look like a sack of potatoes). It’s practical, smart enough for work, perfect spring/ autumn weight. Two of the most stylish women I know (and me!) have it. And it’s a good price.

Alternatively: a decent blazer would be a good buy. The structure will help other outfits and it will make you feel more put together and less sloppy. (Should you feel like that!)

I recently bought an oversized shirt/shacket type thing, but thin. I'm a size 16/18 and I find it's less bulky so doesn't make me feel as big as say spending loads on a coat.

Agree with pp, I really didn't want to buy an 18 as it makes me admit I've put on weight but I look much better with clothes that fit!
