I've always looked quite youthful but my neck is starting to get quite wrinkly and I know it's only going to get worse. I'm planning to lose a stone between now and next summer (v, v slow diet as I'm not really overweight) but will less weight accentuate the wrinkles? It's getting a little saggy too 🙈.

Does anything work? I dont actually believe in cosmetic creams. Moisturising the skin, yes, but I don't believe or use other stuff. I'm wondering about other treatments, maybe Botox? (Ive no idea).

If surgery is, realistically, my only option, what kind of money do I need to put aside for this? And do the results tend to be good in general?

I wouldn't lose the weight of you want to keep your neck, mine is like a deflated balloon after weight loss! I'm trying to learn to love it.

TR888 · 29/08/2023 21:59

Oh no...! I really want to lose that one stone. Argh...

Something that has worked for me is drinking a lot more water..2-3 litres a day and cutting down on salt and sugar..it seems to have really improved the bloated mess and wrinkliness!

I've posted about this a while ago. Tried Strivectin cream, beauty pie youth neck spray .. No effect. Profilho has a minor effect for a couple of days. I'm trying derma rolling now. I even went for a surgical consultation but was told it's not bad enough.. It really bothers me though. I've found it's worse when I'm tired and dehydrated.

Hyaluronic acid moisturisers, and drink lots of water.

Or make a feature out of polo necks or scarves.

Sadly, it's something we can't change. They say the neck never lies...

Red light therapy pec and neck deck.

I have the rio version, I'm forty so it's more preventative than anything but I have noticed I'm very unlined compared to other women my age after using it for a few months.

Lose that weight very, very, very slowly indeed. And supplement collagen, skip the sugar and up your protein whilst you do it.

I know you don't believe in cosmetic creams but I honestly believe the Prai neck cream (the night cream with a little retinol in, not the day cream) has improved my neck. So maybe try a retinol cream.

HotSince82 · 29/08/2023 22:20

Oh and gatineau neck cream is the best by a mile. Get ot on QVC.

Mrstwiddle · 29/08/2023 22:22

Tretinoin. Just start off slowly and make sure to wear a high SPF.

Following!

You can buy tape to stretch the skin back from the back of your neck that gets hidden by your hair. Apparently it's an old theatre trick that is still used by Joan Collins. Grin

TR888 · 29/08/2023 22:50

Love the idea of the tape... less so the thought of taking it out and the skin bouncing back 😭

I want to (hopefully not prematurely) post some encouraging results. Started derma rolling at home 6 weeks ago with the 1.5mm roller, then 2 weeks ago started with the prai throat and decolletage cream and I am cautiously going to say I see some tightening. It's still not fully there but this is the first improvement I have seen after profhilo, strivrctin cream and beauty pie neck spray did nothing much (other than make my neck sticky). Can't be sure if it's the derma rolling or the prai stuff but I'll carry on with both and update again

Keen for an update to see if the derma rollering and prai cream has made much difference?

lindyloo57 · 01/01/2024 19:26

The prai did nothing for me, I do use tretinoin on my face but my neck won't tolerate it.

TR888 · 02/01/2024 19:42

What about Botox? Does it work for the neck? I imagine not but I guess it's worth asking.

Surgery... I guess if it gets a lot worse I'll have to consider it. Any experiences on this, and what kind of money are we talking about?

There was someone on here who got a neck lift done recently?

Treacletoots · 02/01/2024 20:02

Red light therapy. I bought a little wand just before Christmas and I can already see the lifting effects on my entire face and neck.

Collagen supplements, profhilo and fillerina may all also help.

I'd also give the micro current devices a go to, along with micro needling and gua sha. Finally the face yoga exercises are absolutely brilliant and should definitely help.

Don't know about neck botox, but I would be tempted to try tone rather than just freeze in the first instance.
