Help me out of my Autumn/Winter style rut!

Autumn is fast approaching and I’m so fed up of my Autumn Winter “uniform”! It feels as though I’ve been wearing the same tired combo of dark skinny jeans, ankle boots and a jumper for years now.

My summer wardrobe is much more varied - I wear maxi dresses, culottes and camis, skirts and a Tshirt etc. I also have straight leg jeans I enjoy in summer with a sandal or low trainer but I can’t seem to make them work for colder weather. It seems to be the question of what trousers or dresses to wear with what footwear in winter which throws me! I have a lovely knitwear collection so it’s more bottoms than tops that are the issue. I’d especially love some non denim trouser options!

About me:
39, 5ft 3. I’m a classic pear shape, an 8 on top and a 10 on the bottom.

My job is casual. Don’t need to be in suits or dresses or skirts but need to look put together.

I used to be the same. Fed up of jumpers and jeans. Autumn and winter are times of year where it's difficult to look stylish, but not to worry. A little search helped me figure it out. There are many style vloggers out there.

A few outfit ideas:

. Long sleeve button shirt with work trousers or jeans
. Polo neck jumper with trousers or midi skirt
. Shirt dress or long sleeve dress with leggings
. Blazer and plain top with trousers
. Leather ankle and knee high boots will keep your feet warm and not allow the rain or snow in
. You can wear heels and flats on dryer, warmer days
. Add a scarf, belt or necklace to plainer outfits
. Matching your bag with your shoes always looks stylish

Neutral colours (black, white, grey, cream, brown) are staples and can be paired with anything. Gold jewellery is an elegant classic that will make any outfit pop.

How about slightly cropped wide legs with platform converse high tops (honestly, the sole on these is SO much better than the low ones for comfort) in Autumn, then swap for some lug-soled boots for winter.

Also, try rolled up cords/jeans just to skim the top of the converse/boot - feels a lot more wearable than the loafer/bold sock combo.

I tend to wear these with lighter weight shirts/blouses. It feels a different silhouette if you're used to skinny jeans and a jumper, so it takes a moment to get used to. Add a heattech vest/top under through autumn and add knitwear as it gets colder.

Converse boots

They look nice with leggings and a nice oversized sweatshirt for casual days.
Wear with wide leg side stripe trousers, cropped straight leg jeans or wide leg jeans for more smart casual with a nice knitted jumper

I like that blog but the clothes are pretty spendy 😳

She tends to include some cheaper options underneath the main but where you can scroll through.

Thanks to everyone for all the ideas! I’ll check out the blog and also followed a few people on Instagram for inspo. I’m going to try and find some solo time to go shopping and just try on some different things!

Bottom: skinny jeans or leggings
