Is it worth buying a neck cream?

I've started to notice some signs of aging on my neck/chest area. Is it worth buying a neck cream or would an ordinary moisturiser do the same job? Any recommendations?

Not really tbh, they tend to be quite expensive for what they are, which is just heavy moisturisers. You could just use any decent moisturiser (look for hyaluronic acid as an ingredient) it doesn't have to be specifically a neck cream.

The reason we start to see ageing signs on our neck and chest first is that the skin is quite thin there, so protecting it important. Do you use sunscreen regularly?

Also, if you wanted to try a retinol product that would help improve the appearance of fine lines etc. you could even try tretinoin if you wished (heavy duty retinol) but you would need to build up usage on the neck area, as it can be quite sensitive.

Not quite the place to mention it, but I can really recommend strength training for the neck. I started a few months ago and I noticed any of that catching myself at an unsightly angle where the skin looks folded has gone. It makes sense as the neck has muscles. It's been like a free neck lift.

I've always slathered Astral or blue Nivea on my neck and it's the youngest looking bit of me. 😁 I should perhaps wear a bag on my head and draw some eyes and a nose on my lovely youthful neck!

Yes, you can't mention neck strength training then not give more detail!

Does body pump count as neck strength training?

So basically my neck has always been slightly on the slender side and I've had chicken skin developing (where I catch myself on a zoom call and think must wear a collar).

Since strength training I noticed my neck has widened slightly, it is definitely not stocky, slightly better proportioned to be honest. Whatever angle I move the chin I can't replicate that chicken skin, it's gone and it must be the strength training and muscle (I've gained like 7lbs elsewhere so it's not weight loss).

The main exercises I could probably attribute to...deadlifts as these require whole body tension, maybe the leg press as it's easy to hit some high weights on this, and definitely back squats with a bar on my back (I use the smith machine as it is easier), and lateral shoulder raises (easy to do at home with 5kg, start at 2-3kg). Basically any of the compound lifts and anything that targets shoulders is going to engage the neck muscles.

I probably noticed it after about 6-8 weeks. I go for a regular ish massage to the same guy for 10 years and he said wow you can really feel the muscles in your neck, they are incredible. It's just a nice added bonus.

Opposite for me - avoiding neck strain and some platysmal band botox has given me a nicer neck and a lifted jawline....
