Is it my trainers or me? Plus where to get comfy trainers!?

Mad post here. Recently I've had a real pain in my heel and I thought it might be plantar fasciitis as seemed to get better when I walked more. Its better now but worried me for a while. I've checked my trainers and they look worn down so I want something decent for my school run (40min walk). My Converse feel like they might not be comfy enough.

Any tips on comfy, fashionable trainers?

I find New Balance comfy.

i love New Balance for working out but for walking, Skechers.

I recently bought some Merrell trail running shoes, and they are the comfiest trainers I have ever worn. I have used them for less strenuous summer hiking, when proper hiking boots didn’t seem necessary, and city break type holidays. Apparently, they use a last that is based on typical women’s feet, rather than using a last for a small man’s foot. (Radical idea, I know!) I would definitely recommend them.

FunkyMonks · 28/08/2023 09:19

Van trainers are ok but they aren't the comfiest ones and also very flat so no arch support if your heel os hurting it might suggest you need trainers that offer arch support adidas have a good range of trainers that offer such support.

Also op it might be worth noting if trainers are suitable for the width of your foot I find Nike are narrow on my feet so i always have to go up half a size in them so they aren't tight around my the bridge of my foot and space at the front might be worth going to a running shop to get your feet measured and check for the right foot wear for you.

Allbirds

I second this. Most comfortable trainers ever. I’m on my sixth pair.

Oh, and their sugar sliders are like ☁️ ☁️☁️.

I use an arch support in all of my shoes which has helped my plantar fasciitis massively.

SoftPillowAllNight · 28/08/2023 09:33

ASICS all the way. Nothing else compares (for me).

Desecratedcoconut · 28/08/2023 09:33

I've found the arch fit sketchers incredibly good for a bit but then the support fades away really quickly.

I rate the Fitflop f-mode range for comfort. They take longer to wear-in but don't turn to mush within a month or two.

I have Colombia walking shoes for long walks. V v comfortable.

Decent running trainers are usually dead comfy. Try some Saucony / Brooks / Hoka etc in a running shop.
Flat plimsolls like converse and vans are awful for walking around in.

I love my New Balance (foam fresh). Only about £40 from Sports Persuit and very comfortable for walking in. I'm planning on getting another pair this week when I get paid.

MrsCarson · 28/08/2023 16:20

@DisforDarkChocolate I just went to look at the new balance foam fresh you suggest. I can't even get onto the Sports persuit website without making an account. How rubbish is that.

DisforDarkChocolate · 28/08/2023 16:23

@MrsCarson I know but I've found them to be pretty good once I've joined. You do need to filter well not to be swamped by loads to look at.
