Vanity calls..Suddenly noticed how wrinkly my skin looks especially under my eyes, on my forehead and how deep my 11 like now is. Photo below.
Is it too late or can anything be done? Admittedly I have a 6 month old and have not had much sleep lately or looked after my skin for a while but gah, I look about 50! I have to work with 20 something's in my office all with pristine skin. Considering Botox/fillers but absolutely no idea what/where or how much?! I don't want the Muppet look, I want to look natural. My teeth are also awful and out of alignment since I was young but one for another thread! My eyes although deep set were my good feature but now they are so lined I can't easily put make up on without it settling in the deep creases. Please help wise mumsnetters!

Your skin looks dehydrated and your make up looks like it's caked. Try taking a photo without any make up but after moisturising and comparing them yourself (no need to share them here).

After reading this I took a photo of my own eye and forehead. Not wise on just waking up with yesterdays make up not removed and therefore no moisturiser or eye cream applied last night. I will now make sure I do complete my nighttime skin care routine.

I think zooming in on any area will always highlight things you wouldn't normally notice and is a recipe for low self esteem.

I've taken 3 photos to show morning eyes with last nights make up and no moisturiser or eye cream, fresh from the shower with eye cream and moisturiser, and with fresh make up. If nothing else it's taught me how important that bedtime routine is for my skin, especially around my eyes. I'm
47. My concealer has run out and I can't get rid of the dark shadows under my eyes 😩

Agree that evening routine is essential to looking ok the next day, without it I look years older. I often take all my makeup off as soon as I get back from work and then moisturisers can be working their magic all evening and night. Sometimes I forget/can’t be bothered if i leave it til bedtime.

I agree that caked on make up might be playing a part. Though people will have started to age, with lines appearing, by mid to late 30s, but the lines are deep and appear to go beyond the eyes. I wonder if sun damage has played a part so would also recommend a high SPF as part of your skincare regime going forward.

And sunglasses year round!

I have Botox and a small amount of filler.

70 hyal twice a year.

Have a very aggressive facial once every 8 weeks with derma planing, extraction and then micro needling.

Nothing to be scared of and the best skincare in the world can't smooth like these can.

I also use tret a few times a year but for the crows feet and fine lines under the eyes, only Botox will do....

You shouldn't really put the tret directly under the eye either, I don't think. I think Flashy recommended sweeping a trace up (from the rest of her face) over moisturiser. I may have remembered that wrong!

rouenti it can go under the eyes just not in the socket. My dermatologist was clear on this. I pat it onto the bone if that makes sense.

Anyway it can never match Botox for crows feet and under the eyes!

Asyouwere09 · 24/11/2023 16:17

Do you use the tret under your eyes too? Thanks!

You have nice eyes and there is absolutely nothing wrong with having lines - I think it’s more beautiful than botox and fillers. You could try retinol and hyaluronic acid such as Clinique moisture surge to keep your skin looking hydrated.

Too drastic for you Op as you’re young, but I’m 54 and I’ve just had eyelids done, eye bags removed and a neck and face lift. Has shaved years off and I have zero wrinkles. Won’t even need Botox anymore. But Botox would work wonders for any wrinkles you do have. I had it for about 15 years. You could do your eyes with surgery if they bother you, but you look good to me!! My journey is on here - if you search my user name you’ll find it.

I like those gel patches for under the eyes, and I think without makeup and with more water you would look totally fine. Also liking your eyeshadow colour !

Get Botox and then invest in some good skincare products. No topical will fix those lines. Botox will give you entirely smooth skin then just start looking after it. Go to a Doctor or nurse and check reviews thoroughly. You will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.
