Hospital Hair Help!!

Morning All,

I had major spinal surgery yesterday.

Unfortunately I had to have a small chunk cut out the back of my hair and I had pins and all stuff on my head I came out with a sweaty matted mess :(

I know this should be low down on my priority list but I was seriously ill a few years ago and lost most of my hair and I've just got it right! I've got a longish bob and it's very fine - I've spent some of the night with a tangle teaser and I've got the front untangled I've got a mat at the back I'm gently working on but obviously my movement is limited. DH is coming up in a bit with some silk hair ties and I'm going to just put it in a little bun.

I had quite a lot of bleach in it a few weeks ago it's a right mess - is there anything do you think I can run through it and just leave - I doubt I'm going to be able to wash it for a week or so.

I've run out of oils and stuff - I've got LookFantastic next day delivery and Prime so any advice what to get?

Sorry if grammar etc isn't good I'm off my tits on morphine.

Thanks 😊

Hope you are feeling better soon. I'd start with a shampoo cap to clean a lot of the gunk out - the Drench ones are good. The key is getting DH to really massage it in then using a towel to clean it off at the end. Then a good spray with a leave in conditioner (I like uniq1 but of course there are loads of different ones, it just works for my very long, fine hair after swimming, and a wide comb

Your grammar is probably better than mine and I don't have any morphine! Hope you're feeling better soon.

Do you have a silk pillowcase? If not, I'd suggest getting one as that will help keep the tangles out (if you don't have one already, get one that isn't white as you don't want it to get mixed up with the hospital ones when they come to clean your room).

As to other products:
This is really good: https://www.lookfantastic.com/ouai-leave-in-conditioner-140ml/12106199.html - there's also a travel size option available for £14.00

I also use this but it will make your hair greasy: https://www.lookfantastic.com/mielle-organics-rosemary-mint-scalp-hair-strengthening-oil/12607418.html

If you need a dry shampoo - this one is unbeatable (it's super fine and doesn't coat your hair in a thick white powder): https://www.lookfantastic.com/living-proof-perfect-hair-day-phd-dry-shampoo-198ml/11907768.html

I'm also a fan of this oil - I use it weekly: https://www.lookfantastic.com/olaplex-no.7-bonding-oil-30ml/12362849.html?search=olaplex+oil

The Redken Extreme Anti Snap leave in is great especially for bleach damaged hair, Is it long enough to get someone to braid it in potentially two plaits if needs be? I find my hair still gets matted in buns (as I learnt the hard way post partum).

I'd also get Paul Mitchell The Elasticizer for when you can next wash it, I'd leave it in for a few hours or even overnight, that really helped the condition of my hair.

Good luck with your recovery 💐
