Constant fake tan

Please can anyone advise a routine for having a continual fake tan?
I always use st tropez express mouse in the summer months. I leave it on for 1.5 hours and this timing gives me a natural glow.
I am naturally very very pale, so as I’ve become older, using this fake tan, makes me feel more confident and I feel I look better.

I usually time the application if I’m going out a lot or have lots of social events. It lasts 5-7 days, I will exfoliate the rest off and start again when required, maybe have a few days of being tan free.

I am going away for 12 days and I would like a continual tan. Can I apply fake tan on day 5 on top of some existing tan or would this cause it to look patchy? How do you get a continual fake tan?

I would get a spray tan before I went and then use a daily gradual tanner after that.

But a good tan remover. Once a week, a bath and remove all the tan and then reapply.
to keep the tan natural moisturise every day with something like Aveeno.

no tan will last that long and if you keep putting tan over tan your skin won’t look glowy, more dirty! So do remove it once a week.

I’m a big fan or Bare by Vogue Medium mousse. I’m very pale too and this is my go to.

I use one of the moisturising creams with a touch of deep tan - you may want to try a touch of light tan if you are pale. Have a lovely holiday!

Agree with @EllaPaella, I always spray tan and then top up with gradual tan fro mum about day 3 or 4 as spray tan (or any fake tan) won't last as long as long if you're in a pool or swimming in the sea.

Excuse silly phone typos!

Sali Hughes was waxing lyrical about that mousse in her column today.

There's nothing that lasts more than 5 days. You should choose something that is not too much darker than your own skin tone, then on night 5 scrub like blazes and start over.
Have a great holiday and don't forget the scrubby gloves.

Thank you for all the tips. I think I’m going to apply and leave it for a lighter shade than my usual just before going, use a tan remover on day 5 and then start again.
I never knew about the tan removers, but I’ll have a practice before I go away in a few weeks.
Has anyone recommendations for a tan remover?

You don’t need to start again. Just lightly exfoliate the parts where it tends to build up…like your forearms and ankles and reapply. I go for weeks sometimes without exfoliating and it’s fine. The St Moritz (sp?) colourless tan is perfectly fine and much cheaper.

Vohgue · 14/08/2023 00:09

Agree, you don't need to remove the whole thing. Just exfoliate where/if it's gone patchy. I get a spray tan day before leaving, then at day 4 do another application with st tropez classic mousse if its a swimming holiday. Gradual tanning moisturisers I find don't really last as well

I have one from bondi sands. Does the job! Go to super drug and choose one that’s the best value and good reviews.
