Post pill spots….help me Mumsnet 😂

So I came off the pill 8 months ago having been on it for 23 years (apart from two pregnancies). I originally went on the pill as a teen to help with my horrible periods but had good skin prior to starting and really lovely skin whilst on it. Since coming off I feel like a hormonal teen. My chin in particular is SO spotty - this is not what I was hoping for at nearly 40 😂

I have read that things can take a few months to settle but after 8 months I’m feeling downhearted. I use a Cerave cleanser and a gentle moisturiser. I don’t wear foundation or cake my skin in anything that might be clogging pores etc. Any advice?

This is clearly hormonal so cleansers, moisturisers etc will have limited effect.

You couid try:
Benzoyl Peroxide (Acenide)
Dermatica (Tretinoin, niacinamide, clindamycin)
Spironolactone (prescribed medication)

This happened to me, I didn't realise how much I took my lovely clear skin for granted while on the pill 😩
I have a Dermatica prescription (lots of referral codes in a board somewhere) and as long as I use it every day it keeps the spots at bay...

Thank you ladies, I will look into these options. I also took mine for granted too, never realised this could happen at my age!

Same experience here at a similar age too. I found that the acne (around my chin mostly) wasn’t the old-fashioned kind. The new spots behave more like angry mosquito bites that don’t come to a straightforward head! Sound similar anybody?
I had already started with Dermatica to try to lessen a melasma on my upper lip so I was able to use the tretinion blend on the problem areas. Do be careful. I found my skin gets over-sensitised by the treatment and hasn’t handled the inflamed hormonal spots too well.
But I did try a sample of Dermatica’s 20% azelaic acid lotion and I’m very optimistic that this is the remedy. If you can see a GP, there’s an azelaic cream on prescription too.

Dermatica send out different formulations depending on what your 'problem areas' are. I know a lot of people get tret but mine is Adapalene 0.1%/Niacinamide 4%/Clindamycin 1% - I haven't had any problems with dryness etc

Thank you all. Yes the ones on my chin are very stubborn. Don’t often come to a head. Looks like Dermatica is a go to option for lots of people!
