Anthropologie ballet shoes

I have seen these online and have developed serious shoe lust, but not tried on as my local branch of Anthropologie doesn’t stock them. What do you think? I’m wondering what I’d wear ballet shoes with, they’re satin and I think have a material sole, so not much good in the endless rain in the UK. I’m obsessing about them, please either talk me out of them or give me outfit inspiration to order them online. Link to ballet shoes

@OpheliaPlum

Well you drove me to it. I bought them in-store today. The insole is padded and behind the satin there's a (cotton/ brushed cotton?) lining which makes them sturdier than they look.

They come up small. I'm a 37 or 37.5 or a 38 depending on style. Trying the 37 was like being Cinderella's uglier sister. They don't do half sizes and they didn't have a 38. The 39 might possibly be a teeny smidgin bit too big but the straps hold it on and they're comfortable. Also there will be no stretch in the fabric - if they are too small they will rip rather than stretch.

Well done @NatashaDancing , you beat me to it. Mine arrived today and I’ve just tried them on after work. They are much more robust than they look. I agree, they come up small. I’m squashed in them, but love them. I think I’ll return them for a bigger size, I’m 39 and think a 40 might drown me, but I’ll find out!

Mango do a very similar satin pair in black or brown for £35.99

They are pretty, but very overpriced.
I am good with a needle and would be tempted to buy a cheaper pair and sew on straps.

But my DD has done ballet since she was 4 ( now 23) so I have sewed ribbons, elastic, darned pointe platforms on many many pairs of shoes.

So the bigger size didn’t work for me, but i wore the green ones around the house for a couple of days and the satin stretched quite quickly and it’s now a good fit.

I popped into Mango, and the soles and uppers are much flimsier. The Anthropologie ones have a proper back and supportive base that isn’t easy to show in the photos, but they’re definitely shoes made to look like ballet pumps, rather than dance wear with an outside sole if that makes sense.

I’ve ordered them in red as well.
