I am deciding whether to get this dress from Sezane and would love to know your opinion on it?

I had a Holly Hobbie as a kid btw. I didn’t like it then either.

TheGreyRockess · 03/08/2023 19:25

It's a yay! It's lovely.

However, will it be in the sale?

Lentilweaver · 03/08/2023 19:29

It's very trendy. Which means of course, that it is not to my taste. When will the Little House on the Prairie trend end please God...

Sittingonasale · 03/08/2023 23:13

I like it and if I were a size 6 -8 I'd wear it too. I'm size 12 so don't think I'd pull it off. Defo a slim/petite lady's dress.

Ryanstartedthefire2 · 04/08/2023 00:38

I dont like it

PyongyangKipperbang · 04/08/2023 01:46

PP mentioned Joe Browns, and I was thinking just that when I saw it.

Same sort of thing but a hell of a lot cheaper.

Buts it just....not all that. Its a bit of a "couldnt be bothered, oh thats clean" thrown on to do Tesco sort of dress. And if you want that, get yourself to Sainsburys as they have some very similar stuff for £20!

intherough · 04/08/2023 02:18

Nay , especially at that price

fullbloom87 · 04/08/2023 02:21

I like it but it depends what dress size you are and what shape. One of those dresses that could be unfaltering on some.

I'm a bit puzzled by this and similar comments given the almost universal love that has been expressed on S&B for the Anthropoligie Bettina dress, for all shapes and sizes on several threads. The Sezanne dress is very similar shape. I don't agree it would only suit a size 6-8.

Lentilweaver · 04/08/2023 04:39

I am one of those who don't like the Anthropologie Bettina dress. All that extra fabric and tiers would make me look the size of a house, and I am not that large!

I really wish fashion would drift back to neater dresses, by which I do not mean bodycon. But something that does not make me look like a ship in full sail.

Reggieismycat · 04/08/2023 07:29

Its a mess. Youd get something like that at George at Asda for about £15

LlynTegid · 04/08/2023 08:29

Not for £165.

RedRosie · 04/08/2023 09:45

I quite like it, especially belted, and maybe sized down. It's cotton, but sadly not lined. I'd definitely have to try a 10 and a 12 in case it was too voluminous.

ShouldGoToBed · 04/08/2023 10:51

No. Too expensive and looks like the kind of thing you’d put on in the morning and then change your mind and wear something else instead.

Lentilweaver · 04/08/2023 12:08

Honestly, apart from being viscose, that George dress looks better.

ActDottie · 04/08/2023 12:22

It’s a comfy shaped dress so would be a yay from me

The colours are nicer but it's viscose and I don't like the sort of sexy milkmaid neckline on it. I would wear the Sezanne one, I wouldn't wear the George one.

EastEndQueen · 04/08/2023 19:16

I wouldn’t. Love Sezane but I stick to tops, shirts and accessories, find their dresses can often look very frumpy on a normal person as opposed to their willowy Parisian models. This one has ‘difficult’ elements to start which makes it more vulnerable to this

I hate it too.

mondaytosunday · 04/08/2023 21:50

Just about ok in blue with a belt. Too 'country' and tent-like in the brown without a belt

Smineusername · 04/08/2023 23:29

No. It's unflattering

CinnamonJellyBeans · 05/08/2023 00:28

I like it, but it would make me look like I was wearing my childhood duvet.

Would look good on someone willowy

aintnothinbutagstring · 05/08/2023 01:55

Some kind of job if you have to commute to work by train and yet still have to fork out £300 of your own money on car travel as well 🤔 Most people would claim expenses on the petrol. I mean in theory you could afford a mortgage - but to save a reasonable deposit you'd have to make a significant cut somewhere or maybe tell DP to start claiming his petrol. I'm guessing you're SE where rent is alot but there's still a big difference between renting a 2 bed flat which is all you need with one kid right now and a 3 bed house - and obv very area dependent.

She only wanted a tent dress and we've agreed it will accommodate her very well depending on OP's stature.

It's expensive but she won't need a mortgage for it.
