Facial seborrheic keratosis removal?

I have one main spot like thing on my forehead and I'm seeing lots of little ones all of a sudden now, which I'm afraid are going up grow into bigger ones. I've had the main one at least 4 years now.

I've confirmed with GP that's what it is, and the NHS won't remove them as it's just cosmetic.

Has anyone had experience of getting these removed elsewhere?

Private clinic? What's the least expensive but still good option?

Attaching a picture so you can see what I mean-excuse my giant forehead 🤦🏻‍♀️

You can see the main one and one of the little ones, but there are at least 3 or 4 other small ones in total.

I have one of these on my cheek, same diagnosis. I'm leaving it because I have had bigger ones removed from my body and the scars are very noticeable and became keloid, so I wouldn't risk it. Yours is not noticeable really, and I would avoid removing it if I could.

Thanks for the reply!

How were your body ones removed?

I suppose mine is noticeable to me, and I can't stop touching it to feel how raised is, which you can't tell from the photo. It sticks out and I'm very conscious of it.

I was wondering if anyone had had successful laser removal or something like that?

I think it's adding to my sudden feeling of looking a lot older (50s). I'm imagining myself in 20 more years with a giant warty forehead scaring my grandchildren 😂

I have lots of them on my face now (I'm 53) and I find it incredibly upsetting. I saw a dermatologist privately when they first started 10 years ago and he said nothing could be done as the scarring from their removal would actually make it look worse. And that was pretty much the end of the conversation.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 02/08/2023 10:07

Would a fringe not be an option OP? I know you are conscious of it but it's tiny and I wouldn't risk scarring through treatment.

Mercurial123 · 02/08/2023 10:11

I had them on my neck, and they were burnt off with an electrocurrent. Three months on there is minimal scarring. It is noticeable but would be even more so on the face.

I had a few in my cheek and one on my neck, dark colored. I went to remove them privately 2 years ago, I think it was less than £100 for the removal. No scars.

Can you recommend where it was done please @pizzaHeart ?

Just remembered I had one on my back, it was different to yours OP, it was brown and scaly 🤢 I used saylic acid every day and it completely removed it.

Stratocumulus · 02/08/2023 10:19

I had one, a large brown one, right in the middle of my forehead. Bit like a slightly raised freckle.
Showed up so bad in photos. Mark of Zorro.

I went privately and had it removed by laser.
Bit sore for 2 or 3 days but healed really well within 10 days and no visible scar.
Cost me £275 (I think.)

No prior consultation necessary. I just emailed a close up photo.

Consultant could tell from that & zapped it for me. Not exactly a pleasant experience but was done within ten minutes.

All good.

We’ve got private skin clinic locally so I went there. Actually it was GP who mentioned it as they were sending a referral. It’s a medical establishment but much smaller than say Nuffield hospital and doing only minor skin procedures.

Thank you so much for all the replies.

Fringes don't suit me at all unfortunately, I have a huge forehead a big nose so I end up looking like a gonk.

I'm sorry to hear that. Might be worth revisiting now as surely there are good options like laser available as a pp has said?

I would love to hear that regular use of something like that could get rid of it!

A plastic surgeon or specialized dermatologist could remove it for you.

Jackydaytona · 02/08/2023 13:26

Try some salicylic acid

iwantawisteriathisyear · 02/08/2023 13:28

I had a large brown one between my eyes. Nice. I had it removed by a private dermatologist. She froze it off. No scarring and less than £100

CashmereDarling · 02/08/2023 19:13

I guess my next question is, can anyone recommend a dermatologist or skin clinic in London that isn't too £££?
