Funeral wear

It’s my wonderful father’s funeral next week and I have nothing to wear. I don’t want to look over formal but want something which will flatter a size14 with big boobs. There will be lots of people attending who I haven’t seen for years and I have piled on weight recently, so some thing with coverage. I was thinking a dress but it doesn’t have to be. I can’t handle shopping and wondered if anyone could suggest a comfortable, slimming, appropriate outfit? Budget up to about £80 but ideally less as I might not feel like wearing it again.

I'm really sorry for your loss OP. Would you be more comfortable in a dress or separated? Does it have to be plain black or would you mind a bit of pattern/small amount of colour?

Don't feel you have to wear plain black, black with floral or similar in a thick jersey might feel better

Sorry for your loss.

I have a simple black knitted dress (with a strip of white across the yoke) that I wear to funerals. I got it from Bravissimo but there seems to be a few out there at the moment.

So sorry you’ve lost your dad. I wore a navy jacket and trousers with a striped top for my dad’s. He hated black.

Thanks so much everyone. I think it’s ok not to be completely in black and I quite like the spotty one actually. M and S seem to have quite a lot of options and not too pricey. I could face a trip there to have a try on - just couldn’t cope with trawling round the shops for hours, feeling very raw and just about everything sets me off. This is so helpful - thanks again.

So sorry for your loss @Wildernesswandering

I get that trawling round the shops might be too much for you just now.

M&S's click and collect service might work well for you. Pick the things you want to try on online, in the colour and size you want to try on and have them delivered to the store you would usually visit. Pay with a credit card.

You can be sure of being able to try on at least some things that you think might work. It's so frustrating to get to a shop and find they don't have you size or colour in stock.

Visit the store, try them all on and return any that you don't want for an immediate credit back to the payment card.
