Cleaning nose piercing

I had my nose pierced a few days ago, all seems fine I'm just struggling to clean it. The piercer told me not to move the jewellery but how can I get right next to the stud to clean without moving it? Are the sprays any good?

Saline is crucial to minimise risk of infection. I used neilmed religiously twice a day for the full 6 months. I had a corkscrew and got piercing bumps whenever I knocked it out and put it back in. Used a bump treatment when that happened. No issues.

Hi @cakebytheoceon you could try putting the antiseptic on a cotton bud and apply it around the stud.

I sound really silly but I'm clueless 🤣
I have been using a cotton bud with saline but I mean like to get right next to the stud it knocks the piercing am I doing something wrong? Should I use the spray? X

Fill an egg cup with saline and put your nose in it for 30 seconds, 3x a day. That's what the piercer told me and that's what I did and I didn't have any issues.

I don't think you should use cotton buds as there is a risk of some of the cotton wrapping around the stud? I did this initially but soon stopped.
I used the spray from piercing mania and that was great.

Also how to dry it after cleaning? X

Dab with tissue.

Use hairdryer on low heat to dry it after cleaning it that's what I've done with all my piercings.
Neilmeds saline spray is really good.
I've used cotton buds to clean all mine so long as your making sure there's no wool left on the piercing etc you can flatten the end of the bud to be able to gentle clean between the stud and nose to make sure any crusties or gunk is removed and not sat between the two to risk infections.

I use those washable bamboo make up remover pads soaked in warm saline and then I soak the external piercing for about 2-3 mins or until water goes cold. Then the crusts just wash off. I haven't found anything to work other than a cotton bud for cleaning the inside though!

Had mine done last week. Piercer told me I could use their spray, mentioned upthread, or use salt water (sea salt, dissolved in boiling water that has cooled).
I clean twice a day with this on a bit of gauze or sturdy kitchen roll, both inside and outside my nose. I was told not to use cotton wool as it can shed fibres and they can cause build up/infection.
My stud has a reasonably long post so slides up/down, which makes it easy to clean. It will be replaced in 8 weeks when I go back to the salon for an aftercare check.
So far, all good. Its clean and doesn't hurt.

Soak kitchen roll in saline made with boiling water and allowed to cool to hot but not scalding. Hold this against the piercing on both sides until it feels just warm. Press dry with folded kitchen roll.

Poking around irritates the piercing and affects healing, but 'hot' (as in hot bath, not skin damage) saline softens crusty bits of serous fluid/skin cells/dirt/dust/sweat/sebum and allows the salt to work against the bacteria that will be on your skin and inside your nose.

Thanks every one for your advise much appreciated! It is so tender but no redness or swelling, I guess that's normal?! Will continue with the saline xx
