I've been stalking these dresses for abour a year now. I love them but have no reason to buy either. Who can suggest or recommend me an occasion as an excuse?

Please feel free to add your dream outfit in need of an outing.

Book a cruise on a more traditional line - plenty of fancy dresses on Cunard and it's no more expensive than comparable land based trips

I have the solution for all of you. Wear it anywhere, if anyone is rude enough to ask why you're so dressed up, cheerfully announce that you're "going on somewhere"

You will then appear mysterious and stylish.

This is another fantasy dress. Not only because where would you wear it but a size "L" in Renli Su is a 12.

Fantasy Dress

Ooh Natasha that's right up my street. Except for the price tag, and I couldn't have a big dinner in it. My alter ego is a wafting ethereal nymph, think Cate Blanchett in LOTR.

It's not that I wouldn't wear it to a party, wedding, cinema, Tesco Metro for a 4 pinter of semi- skimmed it's more that I wouldn't be able to afford to do any of those things if I bought it. I saw the collection at the Alexander McQueen exhibition at the V&A and fell in love with them.

Forgot to add.... appreciate not to everyone's taste but the drama of them, the silhouettes they create - loved this collection.

The fantasy element preventing my acquiring it is not so much the price but that "L" is a size 10. A size 12 is "XL" - (which they don't even make)

I sort of get they don't want fat people wearing their beautiful clothes but on the other hand if I were a size 10 handing over £1,000 plus I don't think I would be best pleased at being called an "L"

It's Alexander McQueen - Widows of Culloden.

NatashaDancing · 31/07/2023 18:09

This is not the forum for questioning McQueen's " interesting" take on the 1745 fiasco, but I find his misplaced sentimentality grating.

PictureConsequences · 31/07/2023 21:52

Quite indeed NatashaDancing, re sizing on both points.

I came across this on Ebay and have fallen in love with it. I have absolutely no reason to buy it and it probably would look riduclous on me. Just wishing I was 40 years younger to do it justice!

That's beautiful. And I don't even like halter necks.
