Have tried every over the counter shampoo with no help. Starting to think it's maybe scalp psoriasis. Any recommendations?

The Vichy is the same ingredient as Selsun so don’t bother with that.

Have you been to your dr?

And do you use an SLS free shampoo?

I'll second the Vichy Dercos!

I don't know where you are but another "safe choice" is coconut soap (the good stuff if you can find it) and the blue soap we use for hand washing clothes (again the good old stuff not the fancy schmancy with a long list of ingredients just real soap) or Aleppo soap (again the good stuff that comes in a big bar). These are short term solutions. Then follow up with the Vichy Dercos.

I used Nizoral and Selsun successfully in the past. Tried T-Gel but if anything it made things worse and left my hair in dreadful condition Confused

What works for me now is ordinary shampoo (used to be the Lidl one for coloured hair but they changed their formulation/perfume and it seems to react with my scalp Hmm) plus 5 drops of tea tree essential oil. I massage the shampoo/oil into my scalp and leave it for a few minutes (soap myself, then comb the shampoo through my hair long and fine so it knots easily ) before rinsing it out well.

That seems to keep my hair and scalp in good condition Smile

The problem with flakes coming off your scalp is you need to identify the cause. Mine is bacterial, so I need to keep my hair very clean as I would my skin and I use Tgel for oily hair (the standard one doesn’t work). Other people it’s more psoriasis/dry skin related.

Have you tried baby cradle cap shampoo?

AcidTest · 27/07/2023 01:02

If its extreme you need to go to GP and find out what it actually is. If suspected psoriasis then they can prescribe steroid lotion which is the only thing that ever calmed mine down when it's bad. Some shampoos are helpful once it's under control, but thry won't touch it until then.

If its scalp psoriasis have you tried vichy dercos shampoo?

This is what sorted me out pretty much from the first use. I don't use anything else. You can buy it from Boots (now on sale) or Amazon.

Definitely SLS free! I used to have bad dandruff but switched to SLS free probably 20 years ago. Cleared up immediately and I've never suffered with it sonce
