Retinol did bad things to my skin

Three years ago I jumped on the retinol bandwagon, did it for a year, and I think it left me with some discoloration. It didn't do anything for my skin and just wondering if anyone experienced the same?
In one place it has left me with a very small quite strange thing going on, where its like there's a permanent tiny crust. Sounds gross, I know. But I'm pretty sure it's to do with the retinol as this cropped up a few months into using it, and two years after I stopped it's still there. I'm not sure what it is or how to get rid of it, exfoliating and moisturising makes no difference, it's very small (maybe half the size of a pea) but really annoying. It's like a tiny section of skin that seems to be permanently encrusted. Any thoughts?

Highly unlikely to be the retinol. What brand and strength were you using?

You could get it checked by a doctor.

@WhenIWasAFieldMyself
Thank you for replying! It was the ordinary, 1% I think.

Do I need to try and find a dermatologist or just go to my gp?

Seborrheic keratosis?

@fridascruffs
Thank you for giving me something to go on, this sounds like it could be it, after googling! It's absolutely tiny in comparison to the Google images but the description matches. Is this something I need to see a doctor about or is it aesthetic?

Maybe ask in Boots or somewhere first. Retinol can be drying and cause peeling at first, but if you stop then I'd have thought it would settle.

Wounds that won't heal after a while should always be seen by a doctor because of the possibility of diabetes (which can come quietly and without the person being fat unlike what so many think).
If it's on the face there's also the possibility of melanoma so get yourself checked out. It's probably nothing but you shouldn't have a "crust" on the skin for so long.

Seborrheic keratoses are purely aesthetic, I have a crop under my right breast but the actual location varies, they disappear and then a new on appears somewhere else but still in the same area
