Anything beige

Do the parents like bright colours? If so look at Frugi, Maxomorra.

If they like neutrals look at white company or John Lewis.

I'm in the bright camp so there may be better neutral companies.

Depends what circles they move in.

but if you’re unsure then safest bet would probably be something from Zara. Or you could look at the birthday number tops from Bob and Blossom which are very trendy on Instagram etc.

Mercurial123 · 21/07/2023 18:22

I've bought friends the Muji animal tops

Mori clothes are really lovely and also second the Zara suggestion.

Luana1 · 21/07/2023 18:24

Fred and Noah clothes are quite popular. But you can’t really go wrong with John Lewis if you want a safe option. Frugi also worth a look but it depends on what the parent’s like style wise. Some parents like to dress their kids in sports wear, some in kind of smart casual, some go for brightly coloured unisex clothes etc.

Frugi, Little Green Radicals and Blade & Rose are good for fun, cool clothes for boys I think

JamaicanRumWinsEveryTime · 21/07/2023 18:38

Little Green Radicals very popular in this neck of the woods.

So many of the suggestions above are fab. I’m sure they’ll like whatever you get him. Maybe ask if they need anything in particular as I was inundated with quite a few dungarees for my son but he doesn’t seem to find them too comfy for crawling about in. I did ask to exchange some of them as I didn’t want them to go to waste not being worn. Just chuck in the gift receipt and all will be good :) It’s the thought that counts.

GotMooMilk · 21/07/2023 19:22

I’d get a couple to next outfits with a gift receipt. Nice colours and wash so well and plenty of other options to swap if not to the parents taste. We got a few ‘fancy’ things when mine were small eg a ted baker dress and they wore it so infrequently (I also hated putting them in designer wear it was so not me!)

NurseNeerDoWell · 21/07/2023 19:24

I have a million toddler nephews 😂 and things from H&M or lovely soft PJs from Mori always go down well.

AnotherDayAnotherUsernameForMeAgain · 21/07/2023 19:25

Based on the diverse range of answers so far it’s clear there is no one go to brand/style.

Good point, actually!

Boden and Jojo clothes always welcome gifts in our house.

LazJaz · 21/07/2023 20:05

i think osh kosh vintage dungarees are super Cute and works for bright or neutral preference- and I always think it’s meaningful to give something that was special or what you liked when your babies were little

they are expensive now - there are specialist dealers!

drpet49 · 21/07/2023 20:10

Jojo Maman Bebe or Frugi

anon2022anon · 21/07/2023 20:16

Oshkosh is a great idea if they're trendy! Preloved in great condition is a good bet for young parents who are a bit more into the environment (I know you didn't say that, but that's what trendy entails in my view right now).

Otherwise Zara is a good guess, but please size up. Have you seen many pics of the little one? If you can share a picture or two with his face blurred out, I can probably tell you where they shop 😂 #shopaholic

anon2022anon · 21/07/2023 20:30

Oh, and check out eBay and Vinted for Oshkosh, preloved sites charge about £25 now, but I've had several for under £10. Jujuni and dotty dungarees are both great dungaree companies too.

Just include the receipt so that tgey can return it

we had so many clothes that didnt fit over the years and i always resented the children ending up without a gift if they couldn’t be returned

RegentCafe · 22/07/2023 09:21

I would get a 1 year old a brio train track which is a gift for life or schleich animals
