Comfortable Doc Marten boots

Could anyone help please - it’s years since I wore DMs. Dd would quite like a pair and I’m thinking ahead to Christmas. She’d be quite sensitive though and lots of shoes hurt/rub her feet (size 4 and quite narrow). I was wondering if anyone has the DMs described as softer leather and could tell me if they are easier to wear/easier to break in.
Thank you.

Yes, the soft ones are easy to break in. They are called softy I think. My dc have had lots of pairs and have not needed to break them in at all. One of my DD's (19) gets the kids ones as she likes the zips on the sides.

There are lots in the sale now, both on their own website and on Schuh.

I got the DM Pascal boots which I’m pretty sure are the soft leather, I stocked up on blister plasters as I was sure they’d still rub, but they are sooo so comfy. Had them for 3 years now and they’re my comfiest pair of shoes apart from a pair of new balance trainers. Highly recommend!

I have narrow feet and always find Dr Martens a good fit. You do need a level of dedication though to get them completely broken in.
When I get a new pair I spray them with leather stretch spray and I pre-emptively put a product called moleskin that I got on Amazon round my heels where they are likely to rub. I used to wear thin socks with running socks over the top but now I just have proper Dr Martens socks and that helps. You can get 'double docs' socks which are double layered, I just use the basic ones which are also good.
Aside from that it's just about wearing them a lot. I wear them round the house at first for about a week, then I wear them out for short walks. If when I wear them for short walks I notice them rubbing anywhere I will cover that area with moleskin next time. Some people use silicone heel protectors while they are getting them worn in and find those helpful.
It takes a while to get them where you want them but it's completely worth it.

I have the pull in Chelsea boot style, didn't have to break them in at all and are very comfortable.
Still going strong 4 years on and I wear them nearly every day for work.

I had stiff leather DMs as a teen and my god they were hell to break in. Once they were broken in - amazing. But I’ve never been brave enough to buy any more.

About seven years ago I bought a style in soft leather (think they were called Hadley?) which were comfortable from day one and I still wear to death today.

Dd has Pascal which are traditional DMs in style but made of soft leather. She didn't have any issues at all with them rubbing. They do need polishing regularly though; the leather is quite thirsty.

Dr Marten Combs - so comfy!
