Rosacea - has anyone used laser?

Does anyone have any experience / success of using laser to get rid of rosacea? Or any other tips?

None of the creams or antibiotics have worked. I don't really have flushing but permanent red patches with veins and spots.. although my skin is smooth to touch rather than bumpy or inflamed.

Or is it a case of just hiding it now? Ideally I wouldn't want to wear make up all the time and by the afternoon the redness is coming through anyway.

Would be grateful for any recommendations!

Hi OP, did you go ahead with laser treatment? My rosacea sounds very similar to yours and I'm having treatment soon. Keen to hear of your results if you went ahead 😊

IPL - worked incredibly well for me.

I've had laser on redness and thread veins caused by rosacea. It's been amazing. I go to a consultant dermatologist so am confident that it is done safely. I think it's called Excel V.

It's slightly painful and you get a bit of swelling but back to normal within 48 hours.

Have had Lumecca for my very veiny rosy cheeks and it’s worked brilliantly but took several goes so not cheap.

I missed these replies, sorry!

@Pennyplant19 i haven't yet. Now looking into the recommendations above.

If anyone has recommendations for clinic in London please let me know!

I am trying LED light therapy but I have had one session and haven't noticed a difference. Think I need something stronger!

I’ve always found if somethings going to work you start to see/feel a difference straightaway.

Its worth a try isn’t it?

Debbie Thomas clinic in Chelsea

I had a course of IPL - worked a treat.

PinkCosYouAreSoVery · 20/08/2023 13:53

IPL worked brilliantly for me too, life changer. That with Lymecycline tablets. I think I erecall the Dr telling me that the IPL sorts the redness and the tablets sorted the bumpiness/tiny pustules used to get.

Assuming you've tried Soolantra cream? It's worked wonders for me and countless others. Very gentle on your skin.

Cutera excel v … Will clear it but not cure it so after initial treatment you will need to keep up with maintenance sessions.

I have - the GP prescribed me everything else before I got my hands on soolantra, and then was gutted it didn't work!

Hi, I tried solantra (sp?) cream and it did nothing! I got fed up with trying lymceline (sp?) tablets for months and various creams so bit the bullet and got the laser. Wish I’d not wasted my time and had just gone straight to it. Over 2 years on and I’ve just noticed that redness coming back, so am pondering going back for another laser blast.

derrydee · 20/08/2023 14:07

Hi @Justfivemoreminutesplease - is laser the same as IPL mentioned above?

Over the last couple of months I've been doing much better with having a good routine with skincare (factor 50 every day etc.) so think my skin is better than it has been but a good routine has done nothing to the rosacea!

The only thing that worked for my rosacea was HRT. I reckon it was all to do with a hormonal imbalance - it started when I was pregnant with DD2 and never cleared up until I went on HRT a few years later. I tried so much in between and nothing touched it. Now my skin is great!

Justfivemoreminutesplease · 20/08/2023 14:18

@derrydee I assume so! I just think of an IPL being that device that people use to blitz body hair, which is also a laser. Not sure if it’s one and the same 😝- do the legs, then do the nose….
I went to see a skin clinic in Yorkshire and after a consultation they blitzed my cheeks and nose. It was a weird feeling, but in my view, definitely worth it.
