Older ladies jeans?

I’m trying to get some comfortable jeans for my Mum, the last lot we bought were from M and Co, who have since closed down, then reopened with different styles. Her last pair were straight leg but had a lot more give in them than any recent straight leg jeans I’ve looked at. However the knees have inevitably worn down so I’m looking for replacements.

Mum is very slim, around 8 stone and wears 10 on top and 12 trousers. She likes clothes that are not too tight so probably wears a size slightly larger than she is already. But recent 12 I have bought for her to try are too tight and restrictive, especially around her knees. She has Alzheimer’s so taking her to the shops is becoming an ordeal on its own, let alone finding shops which cater for her age. (She is mid 60’s so not technically old but Alzheimer has significantly aged her). M and S and Next are all very tight on the leg and loose on the waist (I know from trying to buy jeans myself as a pear shape) plus they the fabric is either very Lycra like for straight leg or very heavy weight denim for the Mom style jeans. Mum also has painful knees, I think early signs or arthritis or osteoporosis so likes baggier knees. However she won’t consider leggings/chinos etc, it has to be jeans. Has anyone got any recommendations online or in shops that are genuinely comfortable and practical jeans rather than tight figure hugging or incredibly wide leg impractical designs which seem to dominate everywhere? If there’s something that works I will happily bulk buy several pairs for the future! Thanks 🙏 👖

She sounds a bit like my mum, we have had success in Cotton Traders for easy to wear clothes (that are nearly the same as the old ones). They have quite a few stretch jeans.

Also they tend to be in accessible places like garden centres where you can park up and go for a cuppa as well as look at clothes.

M&S

My mother is ninety, with some memory and physical issues. She likes Toast, so if she wanted jeans I’d probably assist her to order some from there. Preferably without awkward buttons, but that’s the only real limitation she has to consider. So probably something like these. They’re mostly sold out now but they have similar styles every season.

She has their dresses altered if they’re too long. Wonderful fabrics, more impressive in the flesh than on a screen.

I goodness I loved those M&Co jeans, and I'm only in my 50s! I now wear the "mom" jeans from Weird Fish, which are a similar cut, but thicker fabric.

The fat face mom jeans are a much softer denim than M&S and are a good shape for me, with a small waist but heavy legs

Ah, I am so sorry to hear your mum has Alzheimer's.

We get my nan stuff from M and S or Cotton Traders, both mentioned above.

My MiL really likes Cotton Traders.

Top Shop have some oversized/ baggy Mom jeans and you can pick the waist/ leg length if you order somewhere like Asos.

@SinisterBumFacedCat M&S do wider leg. I’m older than your mum and I like them. They are what I wore in the mid 70s!
