Vinted - should I trust this buyer? Just have a feeling....

I have sold a high price item of clothing on Vinted (£180). The buyer only has a few reviews, isnt selling anything, and in the reviews has cancelled 2 transactions. They are a new buyer, on the site less than a month.

My item is in perfect condition, never worn, still tagged.

I have only sold low priced things before, have 5* reviews and no problems with vinted at all.

Any advice if you have been through this would be appreciated. Does Vinted automatically believe the buyer if there is a problem?

Thanks!

Trust your gut.

My advice would be to take lots of photos, especially of seams that may ‘pull’ if tried on but a bit tight, especially perhaps sleeve seams. Take photos of the tags still being firmly attached, any buttons and areas of stress such as and zips or necklines. Basically have the evidence that the item was in pristine condition when you sent it. I also take a photo of the package with the address label on it. Good luck with your transaction.

Thanks @BringMeTea am tempted to.

@Lilsoph Great advice, thank you! I may cancel it, then relist with all those photos

YY to trust your gut. I’ve just had my first chancer, low priced item which they claimed hasn’t arrived. Vinted sorted it but I’m far more aware and cautious. I’ll be taking loads of pictures now.

You could go through with the sale but just take extra photos for your own peace of mind and evidence should the buyer try to say the item was damaged or not in pristine condition.
if I’m selling something that has a flaw or mark I message the buyer making sure they have read this detail and still happy to buy the item. If they are this is proof they agreed to proceed knowing the condition of the item. If not the sale can be cancelled.

@Lilsoph I've taken loads of photos and sent them to the buyer, showing no flaws at all. Even taken a video!

I am over thinking this.... now I am thinking "what if they say the item they receive is NOT the item they have paid for" 😂🤔can you tell, I am a worrier?!!

@QueefofSheena were Vinted good at handling the problem?

Trouble is, I need the money from the item to buy something. So I have to sell it somehow.

Op you'll be fine I've sold and bought a lot from Vinted past month.
I've bought off people with no reviews and all has been fine I've sold to people with no reviews or not fab reviews.
I can understand your anxiety over the what if I've done it myself when I've sold more expensive items for £90 upwards and as you say it's worse when you think they will try and pull a fast one always when you need the money or it's a large item etc.

You said you've done a video and sent many pictures you've protected yourself there because you can show that to Vinted if it goes south.

HN3452 · 15/07/2023 18:19

Thanks @FunkyMonks . I feel better reading your post. I have sent it, even took a photo in the newsagents, of the parcel with a hole in the packaging with the item peeping through (then resealed it obvs) - think the guy in there thought I was mad!!

Got all the proof I can 😁

Thanks for the advice @BringMeTea @FunkyMonks @Lilsoph @QueefofSheena

People rarely leave reviews for buyers so it looks as though they have little feedback but it’s just that people can’t be bothered to do it. There’s no auto feedback for buyers, only sellers. Fingers crossed you’ve covered yourself but I wouldn’t be too concerned. I buy loads and only have five reviews as no one else had bothered to leave any.

HN3452 · 15/07/2023 18:38

That's a good point @CeeceeBloomingdale I dont always leave FB for buyers, true

My item was low price, and I’d read on here that vinted would sort it, and they did. I didn’t get an explanation about why it hadn’t apparently been delivered, just the money about a week later. I now take a pic of the parcel with the label on and a pic of the slip from the parcel shop next, as it’s easier to keep track if the photos are side by side on my phone album.

HN3452 · 22/07/2023 10:46

@QueefofSheena I was impressed with Vinted's quick response to my concerns. Glad your problem was sorted.

Thanks all for the help. My gut was wrong and the buyer paid up no problem! I did take loads of photos and will carry on doing that with future items x

I have received a message from vinted saying that I need to verify who I am or my withdrawal of funds could be blocked it’s asking for a passport or driving licence but I don’t have either I read that you can use a member of your family if they live at the same address is this true ?
