I have invisalign. Did look at smile direct but didn't go with them because tooth moving is more complex than I 1st thought and wanted the decent and regular care of a dentist.

I’m using smile direct club right now. I’m on week 5 of 16. My teeth have definitely had quite a bit of movement already. I can’t speak to the final result yet obviously but I’m happy so far. The box it all comes in is very easy to use. I find 22 hours a day quite a bit of a commitment because the first day or so of a new aligner I have a bit a lisp. You won’t just do a bottom set I don’t think, I only wanted top set but after getting the initial look of what my teeth would look like I did actually need movement on the bottom and throughout the process they never give you the option to just do top or bottom. You also get free teeth whitening kits.

Smile direct , you never see a dentist , you have no x rays taken of the roots of your teeth so you don't know if they are healthy enough , you have no one seeing you in person to check no damage is being done to your teeth whilst the treatment is going on.
Smile direct make customers sign a non disclosure agreement but if you look you can find plenty of very unhappy customers who have lost teeth , or have permanent damage or have needed to see a proper orthodontist to get their problems corrected.
See an orthodontist who offers a variety of braces, who can discuss the pros and cons of each and costs.
Invisaling is a very expensive way of moving teeth with limitations as to how and what teeth it can move but it has great marketing.

I have done Invisalign and although my case was very mild with minor crowding, I still had to file/shave couple of teeth to create room for others to move in proper position without "black triangles" (gap at the bottom of the teeth). That wouldn't be possible with Smiles Direct surely.

Smile direct is very limited whereas with invisalign you get attachments to help teeth move, potentially bands if needed, IPR if needed, and most importantly you're under the consultation of an orthodontist who you can see and communicate with if there's any issues.

I did it, I would not recommend purely because speaking to a dentist, let alone an orthodontist, was impossible. I'm now with a proper orthodontist to sort out the problems left.
