I have no idea what to wear

I want to cancel as I feel fat and ugly. Im size 18, huge tummy. Been invited to a night out with the mums at my sons school. He’s in year 6 and it’s to celebrate kids leaving primary. If I’m honest I don’t know the mums very well as he started in year 5 due to the house move. I don’t ever go out, if I’m honest I have no idea what people even wear now on a night out!

It’s in a restarant/bar in our local area never been there before. I was thinking a dress but I feel fatter in a dress (I’ve gone and bought 2 dresses and both look awful sales assistant helped me and I looked okay there). I feel they’re too “dressy”. Im thinking black trousers with a top. Will this be okay? I’ve got one cold shoulder top which doesn’t look bad or a 3/4 sleeve evening top. What would you wear? Please be kind I’m really stressing over this!

That dress is gorgeous! And will be super flattering too.

The dress is gorgeous, but you need to be comfortable, so if you feel best in jeans I would absolutely say wear those, with the cold shoulder top. Can you dress it up with jewellery/accessories?

Thank you all. I obviously don’t look anywhere near as nice as the model! It does really cling to my tummy.

so even if it was a bar would this dress still be okay? I was thinking of changing the belt to another I have as it’s too pink if you know what I mean.

Where would you wear this dress yourselves if you had it?

Mums night out here is very much jeans + top territory. The dress is lovely though so pick whatever you feel most comfortable in.

I'd wear that pink dress to an outdoor summer wedding. I think it's a bit dressy tbh.

Black jeans or other black bottoms with a more fancy top, nails and makeup done nicely, hair showing a bit of effort, and some jewelery (necklace, bracelet, earrings) would work well.
