Hi!
I have been invited to two weddings this summer and am looking for a dress.

The big thing is - I don't want to spend money/ buy something to wear only for
those venues, but I would like to wear it every day.

I was thinking about getting one of the beaded bags by Accessorize so it will
make it more dressy, but I can't find anything that speaks "take me"😅

I LOVE this one from a self-portrait, but it is not an everyday dress and is
pricey:
www.self-portrait.com/products/blue-prairie-midi-dress

I was also thinking about this one from Aspiga:
www.aspiga.com/collections/all-dresses/products/victoria-cotton-sateen-v-neck-printed-dress-waterlily-pink-white

but not convinced by the sleeve- I have larger bust.

Also
Than I found this one but not too sure if its too basic:
hanah.co.uk/products/ruby-maxi-dress

Please help!

Large bust
165cm
cannot have open back or be too tight 😂

Hey,
You can hire the first dress from HURR if that is something you’d consider, with 15% off your first rental.

Hope that helps

Thank you for all suggestions!

I haven't seen a bum in a self-portrait dress; now I do😎😁

Never heard of Rixo - they seem expensive for what they are selling, but some designs are nice (not for bigger boobs though)

I completely forgot that Ted Baker exists! thank you for reminder

I am large of boob 36G and like Rixo. Clare Watkins (insta) put me on to them.

Ginola2345 · 12/07/2023 22:22

I am not keen on any sorry OP. I am sure you could do much better.

The first dress is the best of the three but its not an everyday dress and looks a bit cheap (as it looks see through).

The other two look very underdressed I am thinking school sports day, nipping to the supermarket or going out for a coffee but both look quite frumpy and mumsy. I am mid to late 50’s and I wouldn’t wear either for a wedding or anything else.

To wear again how about something like this style https://www.monsoon.co.uk/short-sleeve-side-knot-midi-jersey-dress-with-sustainable-cotton-green-54069707.html with nice hair and nice bag and shoes or something in a plain colour but perhaps not jersey.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

I don't like the size of my boobs- but V neck makes me feel even worse.
When you're ok size-wise but your boobs are too big, you look huge anyway, and it destroys most tops/dresses.

I love Rixo's design- but most of their styles are for small boobs.
Also, prices are pretty high considering fabric - I wasn't aware they are so popular.

Ginola2345 · 12/07/2023 22:47

Sorry OP I am not really keen on any of your choices.

One is the best but not really an everyday dress and looks cheap with the see throughness. The other two dresses look frumpy, very ordinary and too everyday more like school sports day, grabbing a quick coffee on a hot day and nipping to the supermarket at best. I am almost 60 and think they are too dowdy.

How about something plain self coloured similar to this style but perhaps not jersey https://www.monsoon.co.uk/short-sleeve-side-knot-midi-jersey-dress-with-sustainable-cotton-green-54069707.html

U have to wear deep neck front n back if u hv larger bust.umbrella sleeves of four inches long.

cactidream · 13/07/2023 13:11

I'm afraid I have to disagree with deep neck. It does not have to be very high, but the deep neck looks terrible with big boobs. Like you are exploding😂

I prefer to go a size bigger and have a standard neck.

I looked closely at Rixo; compared to other independent brands from this topic, they seem very pricey.
Has anyone got anything from them? Is it so well made (because the fabric is mostly viscose)
Why are they so popular considering prices? I am pretty amazed - I was looking for their story, but not much has been told.

I have two Rixo dresses. They fit beautifully and are really flattering

That is why I was thinking about this one:

https://hanah.co.uk/products/ruby-maxi-dress
or this pattern:
https://hanah.co.uk/products/ruby-maxi-dress-floral

Sorry OP but that's awful, it's giving nana nightie vibes.

I really like them for everyday wear🤕

I am starting to think that my taste in clothes is non-existent😅

DuchessOfSausage · 13/07/2023 14:19

The first and third ones are shown on models with a small bust, and probably will not suit you. The second one is much better.

mollyminniemo · 13/07/2023 14:46

Fur the budget you have £100-£200 I’d be looking at Reiss. Their tailoring is just top notch and you feel very special. Also good range for more coverage on boob area with their more structured dresses. If I had more money I’d buy far more from Reiss.

cactidream · 13/07/2023 19:42

Thank you very much for your kind help here- I have discovered many new, exciting brands and placed an order for a dress:)

Thank you all!

Fraaahnces · 14/07/2023 01:23

I suspect the Hannah & May dresses will just hang from the bust line and emphasise that area. There is no waistline and I think there is potential for them to be tent-like and unflattering. The model doesn’t have a big chest and she looks wider in that dress than I think she would something more fitted and supportive.

The somerset dress is flattering and comes in various colours and patterns.

These are stylish and look great.

Vohgue · 14/07/2023 05:23

Oh, which dress OP? I'm glad you've found something.

cactidream · 14/07/2023 15:58

I went to a self-portrait store and chose a totally different dress (short)
Normally I am size 4/6, but because of boobs and their sizing, I ended up with size 8; I can't find it on their website.
It is a light blue dress- I wasn't sure if not too light, but I think I will post a picture later when I am back home.
I have nude heels and will have a dark blue bag.

I don't recommend going to their store, though- that was the most empty store that I have ever seen; most of the items were not there (they had like 10 dresses and 30 items in total).
I have absolutely no idea how they manage; it felt uncomfortable being there.
My purchase was pure luck- I wanted size 6, but they only had 8, but I just wanted to check how I fill in this style, and 8 fits well!
It was on sale for 210pounds which I think was a good deal.

I also got hanah dress, I know most of you were against it, and I started questioning my taste, but I was curious about the print, and actually, I am really happy with it! I am going to wear it a lot as it seems universal- also a surprisingly good fit considering the chest (I am 65G) which looks ...small in that dress. Very happy about that fact- in the meantime I am still saving for a breast reduction surgery!

cactidream · 17/07/2023 12:09

I have got my dresses- thank you for the advice:)
An open back is not doable- I need to wear a bra.

Interesting fact- I have been to Reiss- all their clothing is made in China!

ididntwanttodoit · 17/07/2023 20:50

They are all rather prissy if you ask me. I'm not suggesting you go all Barbie, but something with more of an edge, surely? The Anthropologie one is infinitely better than any of the three.

Oh that one is lovely. Definitely gets my vote from all the ones posted.
