Why am I allergic to sunscreen?

Does anyone else have this? For many years I have worn high factor sunscreen April- October and so am aware of some of the frequently mentioned brands (although not currently thrilled with my body shop skin defense one or my la Roche body one, but that's another thread) but I've recently started to suffer with a rash on my neck and chest (only) from both. Does anyone have any idea what the irritant ingredient might be, so that I can avoid it when I buy another sunscreen? I would say my skin is sensitive but not very.

I get this and so does my DD. I think it’s the the type of sunscreen being too occlusive and creating almost like a heat rash. We use “ultra sun extreme” now, more breathable and hypoallergenic. No problems since .

I get this if I use chemical sunscreen. I'm ok if I use sunscreen with a physical block like zinc oxide. Avene is good.

My son is exactly the same. He's also fine with zinc oxide ones.
We are currently using Green People.

I had this when I was a child, was recommended Uvistat sun cream and it went. I can use most anything now, but prefer unscented. I think it's the perfumes that cause the problem.

My dc gets reaction to creams. I've found one -ultrasun that works well. When going on holiday I also give her half an antihistamine for about 4 days before and during the holiday.

For me it's the lanolin in it. Sensitive ones are ok or I take an antihistamine

I was researching this last year, there are two types of reaction - sun allergy and actual prickly heat. To help with sun allergy, if you can, spend some time in the sun before holiday, so your skin is more used it.

For both, try allergy sun cream - both Soltan and Piz Buin worked for me on the body, still get the rash but less.

Careful with antihistamine, I get UTI from them, common side effect.

I only use Cerave as aftersun and Avene water to spay the itchy rash.

And check soothing cream like calamine paste etc to out on at night.

Like others said - mineral sunscreen is good.
