12 plus years old Gold GHD’s

I have some old GHD’s and whilst they seem to work perfectly fine I am wondering if it’s time for a new pair. Maybe I have got used to how they are. There seems to be a number of offers on at present with GHD products

I wouldn't. I had some old ones which a friend 'borrowed' and I've never seen them again. Bought some new ones and they are nowhere near as good

StarchySturgess1 · 08/07/2023 19:52

Why replace them if they work fine?

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 08/07/2023 19:53

I have ghd straighteners which must be 15+ years old. Still working great. Why change them if they're still working?

speluncean · 08/07/2023 19:56

I have a set that turn 18 this year. I've had them repaired once. I intend to use them til they die.

Tracker1234 · 08/07/2023 20:08

Ok. I will keep them!

I have set that are now 19 years old! My sister's gave up when they were about 15 years old, and thinks the new ones aren't as good. I intend keeping mine til they die!

SkatieKatie · 08/07/2023 20:33

Mine are 18 years old and have never given me any trouble. They still work brilliantly and I'm going to stick with them until they give up

LiftyLift · 08/07/2023 20:55

Mine are about 15 years old too. They’ve been used thousands of times and still going strong!

Wildlyboring · 08/07/2023 22:16

Noo the old ones are the best keep hold of them until they die.

BringMeTea · 09/07/2023 08:44

Mine are at least 20 now... they don't make 'em like that anymore...

SirSamVimesCityWatch · 09/07/2023 08:48

Judging by the number of us who have old ghds which still work and therefore haven't spent any money buying new ones, I'm guessing ghd have realised that they can make more money by lowering the quality and selling a new pair every five years or so instead of keeping the original quality and selling a product that lasts 20 years.

It's a good short term strategy but the loyalty to the brand is eroded over time and they could find themselves going the way of Hunter's wellies - no point buying Hunters when the quality had dropped so much, so no-one did, and now they've gone bust.
