Cheap, comfy loungewear - natural fibres if possible

I now virtually have nothing left to sit around the house in. I have a few tops but thats it. Nothing that I would feel comfortable opening the door with!

I threw out the rest of the stuff last night and now only have one pair of bottoms, which are cropped at the knee, look really odd and have a hole in the back, and they're some sort of man made fibre. Dont even know where I got them

So when I get home from work I like to sit around in comfy stuff and I need very cheap items as I will continue to lose more weight and have to chuck those out at somet point too.

Am I asking too much for natural fibres? It needs to be fairly stretchy stuff too and nothing showing my arms.

I also do not like leggings.

In an emergency it’s perfectly possible to find 100% cotton pyjamas in Primark. (Though you may want to search for the Made In … label.) They shrink enormously, so buy a much bigger size. But they should last a good few months.

Moving up to Uniqlo - purely natural fibre loungewear is a rarity, and provenance is often an issue - but the flannel, and cord trousers serve a purpose, the hoodies never die, the t shirts work better for others than for me.

Tbh, now that we’re (apparently) over lockdowns, I won’t be buying any dedicated loungewear for a long time - I’ll just go back to wearing my oldest and shabbiest clothes at home. If I must present myself in front of strangers in home clothes I’d try to buy from Community Clothing. Not the very cheapest - but great colours and ethics to provide a warm glow …

Well, now that I can go in 'normal' shops, I do find myself getting overwhelmed and confused and Primark is a case in point, I go in there and get bamboozled with where stuff is, what it is, how much it is, what size is it, they seem to have so much stuff hanging on the same line which is not the same item. Drives me mad

Plus Im about a 16-18 now and I think they dont go bigger than a 20 so I wouldnt be able to size up much.

Didnt think of uniqlo, good idea

I was going to suggest a cheesecloth co-ord if it's for the Summer months, with either a vest or T-shirt under?

Oh - haven’t heard of them before, @Rina66! Are their sizes generous, as the thing you’ve linked doesn’t go up to an 18?

This does though - https://manamou.co.uk/products/evil-eye-cheesecloth-shirt-stone?_pos=4&_sid=df236baa8&_ss=r

Looks quite fun. It’s a bit annoying that they still show Sold Out stock on the site - and some of the things that one would want to be natural fabrics aren’t. But it’s ok if you filter by fabric.

This silk knit t shirt from Cos is possibly too good for lounging - but it’s available in an 18 and a bargain in the sale.

I very much like the t shirt, it is quite pricy, I like the striped one

Asda is really good for muslin/cheesecloth items. I Have the shortie pjs with a camisole vest top. They also have culottes & shirt tops. I shop anywhere from Jaeger/Jigsaw to supermarkets if they have the things I'm looking for. I presume you don't want to spend too much if you're losing weight?

Exactly, I just want cheap and disposable at the moment.

I’ve just ordered some cotton dresses in the H&M sale. I’m going to be sitting around recovering from surgery quite a lot and they are more substantial than nighties. I won’t be able to do trousers. They were between £5.00and £10.00 . A large is 16-18.

Zebracat · 07/07/2023 19:44

This was one

I think the camisole cheesecloth top are sold out. But the Pj pants in short & long are still available. As are the shirts & culottes

Yes, H&M is definitely worth a shout.
I love this dress in a muslin material.

Op - I find H&M is great for lounge wear.

This is merino wool so a bit warm for now but if both L (16-18) and XL (20-22) available and would see you into autumn and winter. This one is pricier than normal H&M but now in sale.

Could wear with something like this

or this

Not natural but super flattering and will see you you through several size changes.

They'll be loads more coming in early autumn.

I just buy 100% cotton v neck mens t shirts from m&s and basic supermarket jogging bottoms. We're renovating a house and have dogs so anything nice gets paint, mud etc on. I've got a couple of pairs of cropped jeans and nice Adidas t shirts and short sleeve polo shirts from kangaroos for going shopping etc. Got some cropped leggings and jersey shorts for home as well but all very cheap.
