It was my mother's dress which she remade for me to wear and I am keeping it just in case DD wants it (unlikely but you never know).

Claire126 · 24/02/2008 13:08

Mine is still in the loft four years after getting it cleaned and trying to sell it!

Still don't know what to do with it, part of me wants to keep it, for the sake of it, but it's just gathering dust and taking up space!

prettypurpledaisy · 24/02/2008 13:10

Mine is in a bin bag in the loft, had it cleaned then crumpled it up in said bag. Shame really beautiful dress.

Disenchanted · 24/02/2008 13:12

Im tryin to sell it but noone wants it!

Bloody beautiful dress! Only got married in it 2 months ago.

Nbg · 24/02/2008 13:13

Mines at my mum and dads in an old wardrobe which has nothing else in.

I couldn't bear to get rid of it.
I've still got my shoes.

suwoo · 24/02/2008 13:17

Mine is in the loft, I am not sentimental in the slightest and throw everything away, but not my wedding dress- no way!
I also still have my shoes, veil, tiara, DD's bridesmaid stuff and all my hen night stuff and all sorts in the loft. I will NEVER sell it, it means too much.

LadyOfWaffle · 24/02/2008 13:18

The lovely suit I got married in is god knows where - possibly in my mums wardrobe. Probably keep it, but it doesn't mean much to me.

Disenchanted · 24/02/2008 13:21

Mines actully on ebay Thats awful isnt it?!

edam · 24/02/2008 13:23

Mine's hanging in my mother's wardrobe. She helped to make it (with assistance from a dressmaker when it got a bit too much - she always was over-ambitious!) so it would seem ruddy ungrateful to sell it. Plus I don't want to. I go up and have a look at it sometimes and remember our wedding day and how special I felt...

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 24/02/2008 13:24

Mine is upstairs, MIL made it. I was going to get my MIL to cut it down to a christening robe in the fullness of time, but she died two years before DS was born. I could not bring myself to cut it up, so I had a dress designer in Harrogate make one for me.

Flllightattendant · 24/02/2008 13:24

Mine is in my wardrobe, I haven't used it yet, it's been there about 7 years...

ivykaty44 · 24/02/2008 13:25

When I had been married for three years a girl from school died and i went to the funeral - it was in the same church I had married and my school friend had deid of cancer.

I took my wedding dress that day to the local hospice shop so that the money from the sale would help the hospice where she had died.

I did actually see the dress again!

TsarChasm · 24/02/2008 13:26

Mine's in the loft. I never had it cleaned - it was something I kept meaning to do but it costs so much.

I tried to sell it once; years ago now.

An odd woman came round, tried it on, fell in love with it, gave me £50 to secure it, said she'd be back with the rest of the money and I never heard from her ever again! How weird is that?!

I had no idea how to contact her. It all seemed a bit Muriel's Wedding. It was the easiest money I've ever made though

I don't really want or expect dd's to use it if they ever get married. I want them to choose their own.

My headdress was beautiful and I'd never part with that. Dd's may wish to use that I guess - it was fabulous .

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 24/02/2008 13:26

IK

I am intrigued do tell.

ivykaty44 · 24/02/2008 17:43

I saw the dress on display in the dry cleaners, they had brought the dress and were using it to advertise the fact that they dry cleaned wedding dresses. The dress stayed there for a while.

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 24/02/2008 19:15

How lovely.

Well done you.
