Not sure what I'm looking for really exists, but here goes...

I need to start exercising. Have a very sedentary lifestyle and approaching 40, and therefore need to crack on with achieving some level of fitness. I will mostly be doing cycling or running (at the gym, definitely not out and about!), and am at absolute beginner level.

Does anyone know of any trainers that will be good for this level of activity, that ALSO look good for the school run with jeans and dresses? Not long back from mat leave so would rather not be forking out for 2 pairs
TIA

I’d suggest go to your local Sports Direct and see what’s on offer. If you’re only starting out with very light gym-based exercise you don’t need particularly special trainers, but I have no idea what your image is of “looking good”. You’ll know it when you see it, and the shelf labels often say what exercise type they are intended for.

FWIW many people on our school run do it in gym kit, me included. Would that not be a better way to kill 2 birds with one stone anyway? If you’re re already dressed for the gym that’s half the battle of getting there.

That's a good idea. I've never been one of those people who wear sportswear outside of a sports situation (not knocking those that do, it's just never really been my style), but it makes sense from a motivation point of view.

Will try Sports Direct, thanks 😊
