Flat shoes for an interview?

Hello, I want to buy some new flat shoes for an interview. I'm wearing a navy pair of trousers, striped top and linen navy jacket (looks nicer than it sounds!)- other than a pair of blue converse I don't have shoes that will work with that outfit.
Can anyone recommend some shoes that would work with that outfit- they need to be closed toe. TIA

Its true though. A navy suit with black shoes is very old fashioned looking, which is fine if you're not bothered about that but as the OP asked on a S&B board, she presumably hopes to look stylish!

"dated" gets chucked out here so authoritatively yet I've so often seen proclamations that something is "dated" followed by "it's on trend now" in the same thread. And what is declared to be "dated" is often declared to be current by actual fashion journalists.

The OP is asking about clothes for an interview, flat black shoes will be perfectly fine. Unless she's wearing 6 inch neon platforms any clean shoe will be fine (although I would still think the Ralph Lauren loafers suggested are really ugly)

It's also the case that 'in fashion' doesn't necessarily equate to 'stylish' judging by the sorts of clothes lots of people are wearing at the moment.

What sector are you applying for?

I wore cream loafers, black trousers, off-white shirt to an interview yesterday. Got the job, so don’t think they were too worried about my shoes.

I’d go with tan or brown shoes with navy, but after that if you’ve got black already then they will be fine. Hope it goes well OP!

Don't buy new shoes for what will only be worn an hour (max) interview where you'll have your legs underneath a table. Save your money to buy something banging for your first day on the job :)

If you've got something suitable in black, I'd wear those. Not perfect with navy, but much better than new shoes at an interview!
