I’m taking the plunge and getting bum bag. Recommendations?

Single parent and fed up of being the carrier of everything, especially when travelling and the passports, boarding passes etc. Ok when wearing a coat as can put in pockets but summer… not so easily as I have a small little backpack and the constant taking it off to get out passport, water bottle, wallet or phone drives me barmy!

any good recs? Decent size, as would love to include small water bottle, wallet, phone passports.

Add caribenas to the strap, and you can attach water bottles etc. to them.

Has anyone seen a waterproof one that could withstand chasing a kid into the sea?

Argument ping pong is is dull for us others watching. I wonder has anyone any recommendations for something similar to bumbag but a bit nicer looking on the body?

I have the Uniqlo cross body bag (which actually is more of a bumbag imo, at least I wear it as a bumbag), in olive green. It's typical Uniqlo, simple but works well, and just perfect for it's intended purpose. I bought it for dog walking, but use it all the time. The fact the extra belt is secured nicely, rather than trailing, is a good feature, and it has just the right number of pockets. Minimalist but functional, that should be Uniqlo's tag line.

I’m currently using this one, which is reduced from £60 to £36 at John Lewis. It’s apparently/allegedly waterproof. I’m wearing it across my body rather than as a ‘fanny pack’. It holds my iPhone 14, a substantial purse, multiple sets of keys, kiddie snacks, glasses case, lipsticks, pens and pencils, face cream and hand cream, etc. It is officially the Tardis of the bum bag world!

Rucksacks are great but almost too big for daily use and it's such a faff taking them off in shops. Messenger bags always seem to get in the way.

I use mine for dog walking, gigs, holidays, on flights and you can fit LOADS in and wear cross body, around waste, shoulder and especially good for flights to tuck under an oversized hoodie to have your essentials in for your flight if you've got to put your bag in the overhead locker. As someone who walks everywhere and also ends up carrying bits and bobs for my husband would add it's worth getting a platypus roll up water bottle with the clip on - so easy to stow away between use/when empty.

Welcome to the Uniqlo club! I've had to ban myself from the website so I don't see any new colours. I've got 4 different colours, wearing the red one as I type. I love them! As soon as I unpack my work bag on a Friday my glasses, AirPods, wallet etc move over to this for the weekend. And I can get a 1.25l bottle of Diet Coke in it 🤣
