Nail varnish that doesn’t chip in the sea? (No gel no shellac)

I do my own nails but am yet to find a nail varnish that doesn’t chip when I am on hol at the sea, can you recommend any brand?
So far I have tried: opi, essie, nails inc (normal ones), sally hansen, chanel, rimmel, revlon and a few more…
Top coat wise I normally use nails inc too, it’s good in normal life but won’t resist long in the sea.
Am I asking for something impossible?

Basically, yes you are.

Hence the popularity of gel, shellac, BIAB etc.

Why are you against gel?
You can buy kits and apply and remove it safely.
If its removed properly it will cause no damage to your nails.

I use a Sally Hansen top coat on M&S nail varnish, never chipped yet while swimming in the sea.

Just back from a weeks holiday, used Primark gel polish on toes, in dark wine colour, in sea/pool every day and it has not budged. It's called gel but is just a normal polish and its £1!

Yeah I think you are asking for the impossible. Why don't you want gel? You could get your own kit.

It’s never going to be as good as gel but Barry M Jelly nail polish is the closest thing I’ve found. You need a good base coat with it and then their own top coat - Plumpy one is good as it’s very thick.

Just not a fan… UV light, expensive, can’t easily take it off myself, damages nails and also, won’t have time for an appointment before my holiday :)

Use a base fiat then a good varnish, I always use M&S varnish. Put on a couple of clear top coats!

If you remove it with acetone and don't force it off it won't damage your nails
You could buy the kit and a few polished for £40 ish and get loads of applications from it.
The UV exposure is minimal if your doing a mani/pedi not very regularly

Nailberry do lovely polishes and a 'uv glos top coat' which gives you a gel coat finish but is not gel and doesn't need UV setting. It's fab

I now use Green Flash kit at.home though. It's LED light rather than UV but it works really well and is a doddle to remove at home. Get it from Manicurist.

Suprima · 30/06/2023 12:45

Not for hands. You’re simply not going to get the same effect as gel with your hands being washed and used so much.

the Barry m jelly polishes are good for feet.

i would just buff your nails for shine and get Dior nail glow or Essie hard to resist and give them a pink tint. You can build on that a few times and chips just don’t really happen.

Seconding Nailberry. I can barely make nail varnish last a day, and I’m getting 10 days out of Nailberry easily.

Dotandtime · 30/06/2023 12:55

I used nail wraps on my toes last time I went on a beach holiday. Mostly because my nails were a bit of a mess, but they lasted surprisingly well.

I use revlon colorstay gel envy (don’t be put off by the name - it’s ‘normal’ diy polish) and it’s long-lasting. I live in a warm country and I’m in the sea as much as I can all summer
