Resizing rings/rings generally

For our recent anniversary, DH gave me a beautiful antique gold ring. Unfortunately, the only finger it fits is my wedding ring finger. I don't think I can wear it with my wedding and engagement rings as they're platinum and will damage it (is that right?) and I don't want to resize the gold ring as it is so delicate and has an inscription.

So I'm thinking of resizing my wedding and engagement rings to wear on my right hand. (I know some people will be aghast at this but I'm cool with it- I'd like to wear a ring on my wedding finger and I'd like to carry on wearing my wedding and engagement rings but I don't mind where.) Has anyone had rings resized- how easy is it to do? They are a plain platinum band and platinum band with solitaire.

Thank you.

Are you wanting them bigger or smaller, smaller is easier, bigger possible but can make band thinner, just take them to good local jeweller, I had some done and it was about £80 but that was a few years ago.

Waiting on this.

Making them bigger makes them weaker, I'm not sure who one hand would be smaller than the other though? Can't you wear the new one on your right wedding finger?

Your ring finger on your right hand will likely be 1-2 sizes bigger than your left hand (assuming you're right handed)
it is usually possible to size up rings this much without much problem, platinum is slightly better at stretching than gold. Unless the ring is thin to start with, a plain band can be stretched a size or two without much noticeable difference. A ring such an engagement ring with diamonds (or other stones) in it may need to have platinum added although it is sometimes possible to resize without adding platinum.
Lastly it may be possible to resize the antique ring without disturbing the inscription but it might be safer if you're happy to have the others resized.
(I'm a jeweller, I do this kind of thing every day 😊)

My right hand is bigger than my left as I'm right handed- not like a fiddler crab but about a ring size between fingers. Think that's quite common.

This is really helpful, thank you!

I never knew, I. Left handed but my ring is J on both hands

I'm left handed but my left ring finger is smaller than my right.

OP I wouldn't alter the rings, just wear whatever you fancy on any given day.
