Having had 3 Philips flossers in 4 years, all of which have broken....is Waterpik a better option???

I have a Waterpik knock off from Amazon (wanted to try a cheapie before committing) and its going strong 2 years later! However my periodontist told me not to bother with one, and just be rigorous with teepee brushes and floss so 🤷‍♀️!!

I had a waterpick which worked fine but i never managed to get past the point of waterboarding myself with it 🤔😂

Amazon is a good source of reviews for the different makes even if you don't buy from there in the end.

Waterpik plug in. More expensive than rechargeables and the lead is a PITA as it's a 2 pin plug, but way more reliable.

The other ones (including waterpik rechargeable) break so easily because the batteries are rubbish.

Philips have sent me a 30% off voucher so I could rebuy theirs for under £50 and then at least if it breaks within 2 years ( which it will ), they'll send a replacement.

My gums are in much better shape since using a flosser. I shall do some (more!) research

I've had my Waterpik for three years and it's still going strong. I have the cordless handheld one as there's nowhere to plug it in in my bathroom and the battery lasts well over a week.

DailyCake · 27/06/2023 08:33

I have had a corded Waterpik that came with a smaller travel version for two years now.

WeRateSquirrels · 27/06/2023 08:46

I've got the cordless Waterpik and love it. I think it's a useful addition to regular floss, not a replacement. I'd love a corded one but the shaver socket in my bathroom is too far from the basin. I've only had it for about 6 months so can't say anything about longevity really.

Air flossers are great ,and less messy.

My Waterpik died after about a year. I wouldn't buy one again. I have a battery one which I've had about 4 years now (can't remember brand, but it was significantly cheaper than the equivalent Waterpik).

notatherapist · 27/06/2023 16:55

Just replaced my old waterpik with a new cordless one after it died. The first one didn't even work (but was replaced immediately) the second one is fine but doesn't feel as powerful as the original one (£91 is a lot of money but it really helps my mouth health) Hygienist rates the bigger corded one but I haven't got the space for it.

I've had my corded Water pik around 8 years. My dentist said my cleaning is great. I run diluted white vinegar through it periodically to get rid of limescale & clean it through.
